The matchmaking system is the worst thing that's ever happened to TF2, it has turned every server in the absolute worst kind of retard fest by discouraging good players from forming communities together and letting the shitters play on the pub and skial servers.

TF2 mainly itself takes place- judging by the calendars- over the summer of '68 and the comics and shorts are either side stories or afterstories, many of which are DIRECTLY shown in-game (Merasmus stuff, Mann vs Machine, sending the Mann Brothers to hell, etc). Even minor things in the shorts show up in-game like the scar on Sniper's face from Meet the Spy, or Meet the Medic showing off the Medigun creation (and why the Quickfix doesn't give full invuln).

The layout is nearly identical other than flag capture position (battlements vs flag room), it's the gameplay that makes it more of a slog- namely how Engies can camp around all day with less ways to be immediately gibbed and no Medics conc-jumping everywhere at Mach 7 bypassing defenders entirely. The map changes (covered bridge for sniper cover, no one way hallway) are good things.

No to the scanner. One of Scout's natural ability is to un-disguise spies simply by touching them. Though getting in touching range of a suspected spy is pretty stupid, generally. Even then, spy's didn't get truly dangerous until cloaking in TF2 happened. Feigning death was the old alternative, and it was always broken and often will get you killed, as the screen will hitch upon passing over their "corpse." Additionally, you can't stand up when someone is standing on top of you. So you'd almost always get crowbarred to death for your efforts.

You probably didn't know about it but there's a scan10, scan30, and scan100 command in team fortress. Most people didn't know about it, but it made a quick lightning bolt effect in qwtf pointing to an enemy.

I think the problem was actually the size of the animating team for TF2 being way too small to achieve commercial production. They probably could have gotten a whole new studio made just for pumping out SFM but I think Valve is actually too small a company to afford something like that, even with the massive amount of dosh they make off Steam.
I also want to point out that if they did go through with a TF2 tv series, all of the voice actors would have to try and match the original line work they did nearly ten years ago. If you've heard any of the new lines made past 2012, you would understand what I'm talking about.

You're severely understating this. In TF2, Pyro is underpowered compared to the other classes at high level play because he doesn't have the same capability for burst damage at close range that other classes have, despite being the 'close range specialist'. In TFC, he's completely fucking useless and accomplishes absolutely goddamn fuckall because his flamethrower does about 2 damage per tick and ticks like twice per second. You literally never, ever, EVER see pyro being played for any reason whatsoever because he's less useful and powerful then the fucking civilian.

One of the things that they never touch on are Engi's insecurity issues. In game, he's constantly calling everyone else 'boy' and 'shorty' despite being the smallest guy in the game (in the image scout looks shorter, but that's only because he's hunched forward and has his knees bent while Engi is nearly standing straight). He's so short that he's one of the ideal disguises for spy (as the image shows) because his head is completely below Spy's actual head hitbox.

But Spy is funny despite being a straight man because he's a dick. He is a sarcastic and vicious straight man who bounces well off the antics of characters like Scout or Soldier. Engy is not a dick, he's the nicest guy in the team. And this makes for some pretty good interactions with Pyro.

Engineer is pretty much the only character in TF2 (besides Pauling and Heavy) who is not insane or retarded or evil or all three at once.

But again, it's mostly due to screentime. Engineer has some pretty funny lines in the game too, and he has made very little appearences in the comics. If they ever add him, they'll find ways to make him funny (if they ever get back to the comics).

Valve doesn't enforce deadlines internally. Being a privately owned company, they can ship things whenever they want since they don't have to answer to shareholders. Valve has an extremely 'club house' culture, it's horizontally structured with everyone theoretically on the same level, there's little to no direction or management enforcing people, people just sort of do whatever they feel like and things are released when they're released.

Honestly, the last year or so could not have been worse for TF2.
I finally got sick of all the updates with nothing but microtransaction hats and stopped playing (when I was playing nearly every day for the past few years). After they fucked up matchmaking, implemented that shit server browser, and killed 90% of all community servers, Overwatch had just come out and completely satisfied that class shooter itch I'd been feeling.

It's be sweet if Valve gave the game a massive facelift/overhaul for the 10th anniversary. I don't even need new weapons, just revamp the way 80% of everything is balanced so we don't have weirdly overpowered/irrelevant shit like Dalakohs Bar and Third Degree.

This comic is sort of the big focus of all the OW comics, with cameos from other characters like Zarya (since she's supposed to be fighting Sombra, Reaper, and Widow because of the Volskaya shit), Orisa, Pharah, etc. and is used to introduce most of the main lore and new characters, especially Talon characters.

I play a lot of Soldier and Medic, but I mostly play heavy because I spent a good $20 on cosmetics and paints to make my perfect Bane Heavy. He has the Large Luchadore to look like the current Bane comic, plus khakis and the Heavy Lifter to call to mind TDKR's Bane. His loadout consists of things I think Bane would use as a Heavy, like the Tomi, the Panic Crutch, and a pair of strange Fists. Sorry to reply late, but, there's a QTF map called 2night2.

It's a standard two forts facing map. However in the event of a stalemate, in the middle there's a button on the left of the exit gate that you hit that opens the secret room which has, well, the duck.

The duck gave you quad for 10 seconds, pent for 5 or 10, and invis for 30. invis prevented sentry targeting you more than anything. The idea is that if there was a sentry on either side that needed smashing, you had an item people could grab to break the stalemate on either side.

Essentially, maps needs some kind of failsafe against stalemates that allow one side or another to take advantage. Of course in this case, it wasn't a sure fire thing. but it was certainly an interesting thing.

There's a fine line to playing the objective on 2fort.
Capping too fast results in really short matches before having to wait a while for the game to reload (because everyone votes 2fort, no matter what) before you can just go killing again, while not capping at all leads to matches going on forever.

Literally any other map you can play the objective all you want, while 2fort is just Arena mode lite.

Not really. The game tends to follow story cues from the comics, not the other way around. There wasn't really much story at all when the game was first released, everything except the characters personality types was added in later by the videos and comics.
