Did this movie make anyone else really fucking emotional, I just recently watched it and whenever I think about it I still get upset. What other movies/shows make you feel this way?
>>
oh my god yes. just watched that the other week and it's all that's occupied my mind since then. easily one of the best animated films i've ever seen.

so tender, so human, so gorgeously animated. was on the verge of blubbering seeing Hana struggle to not fall down the hill.

I don't know what it is with films like these but they really get to me. The devotion of Hana is so inspiring but also incredibly heartbreaking, after watching the movie I wanted a family.

yes, reminded me a bit of when my mom was single and going through college and working 2 jobs. though i didnt have a tragic father figure death.

my blah boo hoo story though aside, really great movie. i loved it a lot.

funny you should use that pic, i have that movie lined up to watch in my films folder since according to RateYourMusic Only Yesterday and Wolf Children are the only "josei" films worth watching.

best make the most of them i suppose.

It's funny because I'm a guy and I really tend not to like anime at all, but those movies hit me like a ton of bricks. I mean Hana is the embodiment of the word dedication, I have yet to see a movie that more clearly personifies that.

not /co/, but... it's pretty awesome. very Giving Tree. the woman gives up her whole life for her kids, and within a short time they're just gone from her life and she's stuck out in the middle of fucking nowhere. that's what motherhood is really all about.

Any other similar recommendations? I just watched Wolf Children last week after my friend, now gf, recommended it to me, she loves it and wanted me to watch it. I ended up loving it too.

I want to find more like this to watch with her but I'm not sure I want to make a thread on /a/ for it. I've only been to /a/ a few times, not too into anime

Any recs will be appreciated!

If you want to watch something French and adorable I highly reccomend Ernest & Celestine. The whole movie is incredibly heartwarming and beautifully animated.

Watch The Boy and The Beast, same director but focused on fatherhood. I didn't like it as much and it's not as emotionally destroying but still really good. Only Yesterday is really good and reflects on life in a nice calm way, very comfy and a little saddening. From Up on Poppy Hill is another one that's supposed to be similar but I haven't seen it it.

Colorful and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time are also supposed to be good and sad, haven't seen them yet though.

Western movies can't handle nudity at all, it's so fucking bizarre. A naked kid running through baths isn't remotely sexual, it's just life. There is a major difference between porn and nudity, this stuff gets me so mad.

The siblings didn't part on good terms. I didn't like that part.

I'm sorry, sis. I hope you found peace
