I think what it is the FIRST season was good and the SECOND season was shit. What made the first season good was how they used a lot of DC material and story lines accurately. But the second season just started making up stuff and spent way too much time focusing on the Reach, rather than cycling out threats/villains like the first season.

Because they usually do new things in a way that get rid of what made the old thing they were adapting good. Example, Beast Boy in Young Justice has martian powers. Now that completely changes Beast Boy as a character, from someone with earthbound origins to just another alien-effected person like the other tons of characters.

Writers can do new things but they have to respect what came before them.

Making Beast Boy's powers Martian-derived was actually a good idea. It tied his character seamlessly into the show's preexisting framework, gave him a connection to one of the main cast members, and was a much better explanation of how he got his powers than anything from previous versions of the character. The only real downside is that Miss Martian kind of makes a shapeshifting-focused character redundant and underpowered. But that would be the case regardless of how he got his powers

I'm inclined to agree, I was awaiting the revival that The Light had information coming from the future but it never happened.
I did like Superboy since dispite being angry about being rejected by Superman and not fitting in he had a strong moral core (he was the first to confess that The Light had compromised him and called Megan out on her mind fuckery) but I haven't read anything with him in besides Death of Superman/Return of Superman so I can't comment on the changes made.

I love the show, but there are plenty of things wrong with it. Some of the characters are overused, a few of the decisions in the second season made no fucking sense, and the fandom is (as always) the worst part of the show.

Why didn't they tell Miss Martian and Superboy about Aqualad's undercover mission? One has telepathy and the other has super senses, they were the most likely to figure it out anyway. They were the most powerful, so they were the most likely to fucking kill him for being a traitor. And finally, they were the original team and there's no way they would give it away.

Of all the complaints and bad decisions abound in the second season, this one gets me the most. It was angst and drama for its own sake, but it didn't make sense.

I had no problem with the Light's "all according to plan" bullshit. Savage had a pretty good explanation. They just shotgun approached with a bunch of research, thefts, and agents and never had a single plan, just a goal and a ton of methods to reach it.
