Underwhelming. Especially after Volume 3. Not without merits though. The Nora and Ren backstory was good, definitely the high point of the Volume.

Unfortunately, the fights are still suffering without Monty's absolute mad man tendencies. But beyond that, the story is a messing. Pacing issues all over the place. Yang's recovery arc is, to be frank, an insult to both her as a character and the audience. For one of the main four characters, she did not get nearly enough screentime to make that work.

As a more personal gripe, I hate that the Volume 4 confirmed Weiss' mother was alive and then did nothing with her. They didn't even give her a name for crying out loud. Even when Weiss was learning how to summon, she didn't show up. Despite knowing how to summon according to Winter. What was even the point? And they modeled even cruddier Neptune instead. Who served practically no purpose and will probably never show up again.

Also, even though Qrow's semblance is feeding into my pet theory of S+Q=R, it's still freaking stupid compared to how we've seen semblances work in the past.

I like the fight scenes in RWBY but I wish the Grimm didn't job to even the weakest hunters/huntresses. It completely sucks the tension out of the series.

It was the same with that finale when the White Fang let a bunch of em into the city. They cleaned all the Grim up with no trouble at all. Glinda wasn't even scared or upset - she looked more irritated than anything else.

The lack of Oum there to guide the choreography is very, very apparent. And God knows this show didn't have much going for it before.

I honestly don't know why anyone would recommend someone else watch this now. The 3D animu figures are unsettlingly off, the voice acting and dialogue wear on you even if you're patient enough to ignore them at first, and the setting is not particularly memorable- fantasy world #39875, magic-is-dust edition.

Volume 4 was an absolute slog. How many episodes were built up the suspense on that final Grimm fight, or on scorpion-Faunus guy? How long did the fights themselves last?

If this show keeps its pacing, it's just going to be Bleach-tier objectively indefensible before it gets anywhere near its conclusion.

I did not watch it. I do not intend to watch it. It's shit, and season 3's ending got way too dark and shitty for me to continue caring.

Animation wise, its improved, but it's only from the jump to Maya so that's expected, the jump would have happened had he not died. The fights are pretty shit, though it's more the Grimm fights, Qrow vs Tyrian was pretty decent.
