With their individual programs or the block as a whole (ie. scheduling, fan interaction)?

In both cases, it was $$$, desperation to stay on top of the ratings, and hard pandering to certain types of audiences (current teens, casuals, black viewers) rather than a general off-kilter comedy watching one
