Is Jack still immortal?
>>92882723
Word of god is no. However god avoided answering any questions on the time paradoxes he created so take that as you will.
>>92882740
Is op a faggot?
>>92882751
>Word of god is no
Source?
>>92882723
It doesn't matter really. He is still pretty broken no matter what.
>>92882723
Maybe, will he see Hiroshima and Nagasaki go up in fire and smoke?
I honestly can't see immortality as anything but a curse.
>>92882723
Given that the nature of time travel magic and the effects of the portals was never explored beyond the "but I do not age", the answer is left entirely up to the viewers "interpretation", which is to say you are free to chose whatever headcanon will validate your opinion.
Which just so happens to be true for the ending as well.
And any given question Samurai Jack has left unanswered.
Probably not, but no answer is given in concrete terms.
Both jack himself and his sword are straight up magic so he'll probably live to be real ancient even if he's not outright immortal.
>>92882803
>being able to see all of human progress as much as you like
>kill yourself if you dont want to bother anymore
Where is the curse part?
>>92883433
You might live long enough to become the shapeshifting master of darknesss, the shogun of sorrow, the evil that is Aku.
>>92883492
Being aku would be the coolest fucking thing ever
>>92883515
No argument here, my dude
>>92882946
>that comic
Aw.
>>92882751
Wait, when did genndy answered anything else about the series?
>>92882723He was never immortal. The entirety of the series was Jack's dream, hence why he didn't age in it.
>>92883849
That's stupid, he'd have woken up as a child if that was the case.
>>92883896
Aku is real in Jack's world, he just never traveled through time, Aku instead knocked him unconscious.

when aku asks if jack is dead ashi replies back and says no hes not. and never will be. so take what you will with that but i think it a pretty solid answer to you and the audiences question but only when youre not immediately disregarding the authors intelligence like so many people on this board do when they think theyve found some unseamed plothole that should have been further discussed when it really needed to be
>>92890519
*when it never really needed to be
>>92890519
I did find that a very unusual turn of phrase, but it might just be her saying she's never going to kill him.
Either way this is before she realizes she can use her connection to Aku to go to the past, which is definitely a factor.
>>92882946
Still mad
Why should we be mad? It's over let's rejoice and move forward
>>92884187
> Ashi in that outfit
We need an Ashi in modern times spinoff.
>>92882946
As much as Ashi mightve somewhat derailed the last season, I still wish she wouldve lived. We wouldve had a paradox regardless of whether she lived or died, and she wouldve been able to make Jack truly happy. His last little piece he brought with him from the future that is Aku. One of the few good things to come from it for him.
>>92890507
Fuck that pepe made me so sad.
I've never even loved.
>>92883433
>immortal
>able to kill yourself
>>92890785
Yeah, I predicted the disappearing friends conclusion from the start, but I hoped Jack would either end up just staying in the future and make do, or be able to bring a fragment of it back with him.
>>92890924
It's Highlander rules. You can be physically killed by things, just not by aging.
>>92890704
I can't say I'm a fan of the 'modern times' pitches, one of the best things about Samurai Jack was always that element of the alien and mysterious, which made the stuff in the past work, too.
I do get a laugh out of Ashi "fading from existence" at (in)convenient moments, though.
>>92890924
Why the fuck dont people understand that immortality is not invincibility. Those are two totally seperate powers. If you drink from the Fountain of Youth every day for your entire life and get an enema with that shit, you will still die and stay dead if I shoot you full of holes. You could also be invincible, but not immortal, but whatever keeps you invincible might also greatly extend your life.
>>92890837
Before you can love someone you must first love yourself

>>92892792
I'm not, it's a sweet and likeable comic. Hell, something you could've ended on.
>>92890507
That's bullshit reserved for Shakespearean tragedy.
Jack is no tragedy.
>>92892999
Yes he is mate, his whole life is one big fuck you from the gods
Shoulders are lewd.
>>92892999
Jack is similar to the heros of greek myth in that they usually succeed but something shit happens or literally every possible thing that's bad happens to them in the end
>>92893259
Except Odysseus, he got back - back to his wife's ass. And killed all her rude suitors personally.
But congratulations, Jack, you got your home back.
>>92893048
>>92893259
The series, for crying out loud. Not the character
Why couldn't they just let him keep one molecule of happiness after fifty years of hell. What's the heroic journey without its rewards? The shining light at the end of the dark tunnel? What's the point if it never even happened
>>92884187
>tfw you'll never have modern ashi eat your ice cream without pants

>>92895215
Don't look at me like a kicked puppy dog.
I really want to rewatch the season but I don't want to get in my feels, how do you get past it?
>>92895738
The feels come no matter what, my dude.
>>92895901
I've been putting off rewatchwing the series because of the ending. It was a good season too
>>92895961
Some scenes get sadder in retrospect, but it's really enjoyable even on a rewatch. 8 and 9 basically function as a two-parter. 3 remains fucking fantastic.
>>92896189
I'm gonna do it. If you see tears in my eyes it's just the bowl of onions someone left near me
Unrelated to the thread, but how would you write a Samurai Jack story? SJ is a very visual series, so how would you capture its atmosphere in a written media?
>Aku says in Episode 2 that he just ages slowly because he is not in his current time so it fucks up how he ages
>People still ask if he ages weirdly now that he is back in his old time
I swear to god you redditors are fucking retards.
The whole idea of Ashi disappearing was a shit move on Genndy's part.
>only there for muh bittersweet feels ending
>Gurren Lagann but executed way worse
>started the whole timeline/erasing people from the future debate amongst the fans
I don't even like her, but I feel like he should have just kept her existing and married Jack and grown old together or whatever in a classic happy ending.
>>92896650
He doesn't say it's because he's in the wrong time, just that the "initial time travel has affected the aging process".
This does not imply anything other than the nigga aint aging
>>92882723
Dought it.
>Didn't want Jack to meet or find Ashi ancestor?
>>92897094
The implications there that future Aku would have survived being erased from the past would have still been there. That would have pissed off a lot of fans to, the fact that multiverse theory was in vigor and that by returning to the past Jack had condemned the future to the unopposed and never ending rule of Aku. This could have been avoided had Jack slayed Aku in the future as well, but you know, time constraints. I personally am happy with the ending we got although I would have liked too one in which Jack was forced to remain in the future.
>>92897563
Literally just swap the aku fights
>Ashi gives sword to Jack
>Jack cuts up Aku while he is paralyzed by scotsmanpipes/ashi/whatever
>"jack we still have to save your timeline!"
>Ashi takes Jack back
>show the scene of Jack getting thrown into future
>Jack and ashi pop in
>Jack has a shiteating smirk on his face that aku sees
>"oh no"
>cut to explosion of tower and subsequent events proceed as normal but without disappearance.
>Jack and ashi at cherry tree
Maybe if there is time show a timelapse of the city of aku being converted like a post communist country by the surviving future people.
>>92897769
Wait, are you implying that due to the death of future Aku past Aku would just blow up, or did you just make a quick transition?
>>92897916
Quick transition. to make it easier it could cut from
>Shiteating grin
>"oh no"
>YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
>cut to Jack and ashi running from exploding tower
>>92898544
Do they still get married?
>>92891134
Because sometimes immortality is depicted with being unable to die from anything.
