They aren't. Villainous is just a fluke because the characters were made during a different era and the creator stuck to his guns by not changing the style to match what everyone else was doing. All other shows are being developed in current era, which means it's all the same shit we've seen over and over again in the States. This show is also a pilot concept in Mexico and the designs literally look like Mabel's friends.

The fantasy genre is getting really played out in kids animation.

Legend Quest also has terribly cliche dialogue and jokes, don't know what you think you're proving with that by bringing it up. Again, having less shows than I have fingers on one hand doesn't prove that Mexico is doing anything better, just that they literally have no competition.

At most, Legend Quest is a big fish in a little pond. The only thing they've made worth of competing with anyone outside of Central and South America is Villainous. But that may as well be a fluke than proof.

Here in Peru we are starting slowly and only with crappy 3D animations and desings. Also that art isn't profitable here and no one gives a shit about animation. It's all about "get a degree, be a lawyer, engineer or a doctor, marry someone, forget about your dreams, fuck you, end of story"
Some friends are trying to emigrate to Mexico as a desperate way to achieve their dreams.
Mexico is getting more conections and working with young talents, they're growing fast.
That's our case here in Peru, no one tries animation because no one likes to take risks, the government doesn't have time to invest in art, you'll probably end up as a hobo.

What does the art being part of a previous trend have to do with anything? It was never really a bad style to begin with, just overused. Compared to the current cartoon style which is just plain bad. If you need a comparison, look at the old PPG which may as well be reminiscent of Hannah Barbara/UPA style and nuPPG which somehow makes it all worse.

We love cartoons, more than our own shows.
People on Mexican tv shows are just there because of political connections, everybody knows this.
Thankfully, dubbing it's not taking too seriously and we get actually people with talent there, because all the cousins and sons of politicians are on shows and stuff, that are shit, but doesn't matter, because they still get the money.

It's a fluke in the sense that it got ridiculously popular despite its circumstances (People relying on subtitled CAM rips originally and still latched on to it) and being made in a country whose animation industry is so far behind that the most profitable thing they've ever made is Tom Cat: The Movie. I personally liked Villainous because it has cool designs and the characters and situations shown so far is the kind of shit I dig and love. I was a kid too poor to have cable back in the day so Billy & Mandy is not really a nostalgia factor.

Now I actually have mixed feelings because I was working on a character that is a bit too similar to Black Hat and if I show him now people may say if I was inspired on him or something, when the inspiration is just plain Nyarly.

As for him, he is more of a guy with destruction powers and the jazz motif comes from him having the classic old fair folk creative sterility and likes the music because it improvises and gets "created" on the spot, which is something he would like to do. But such is the job so he enjoys it a bit too much because the other option is being a bitter no-fun guy. He is mostly petty because doing "evil" is funnier than doing "good". The bitterness goes for a character who can only bring life and such is in a constant angry mood because only gives life to mediocre and purposless people.
