My two favorite Alien stories are probably Salvation by Mignola and Gibbons and a story by Peter Milligan who's title I cant remember. It had a Nun landing in an all male colony in the same ship as an alien. I think they're both in omnibus 3.

I'm sorely lacking on my Aliens readings, but I enjoyed the Alien vs. Predator game from 2010. Still think there's an untapped market for a game where you play the Alien having to spook and kill people. Even with the shallow mechanics for it in that game, it was pretty fun. I might just be a latent serial killer, though.

Now imagine something like that evolving a hive structure, where groups of wasps bring paralyzed spiders to the queen. That's it. Just in the case of Xenomorphs, the victim species wasn't spiders, but all manners of animals. Could work as a top tier predator on a world.

Now the real mystery is, what hunted Xenomorphs that fiercely for them to evolve acid blood.
