To spin off what >>92876267 said - Civil War 2 was fucking awful. Banner getting shot was exceptionally dumb, as was She-Hulk getting taken to the edge of death by a single rogue missile from War Machine. It would have been a bad basis for a comic series on its own, but that could've been overcome with decent writing.

That doesn't exist here. Jen's previous characterization was tossed out the window for "shell-shocked mousy timid woman", which has been She-Hulk precisely NEVER. The supporting cast screams "look, so quirky", with very shallow characterization. (The legal assistant literally says "I'm a super gay legal assistant.") The legal aspect is made boring, which it absolutely doesn't have to be - and shouldn't be, since it covers a significant portion of the book. It's also a poor conflict - Maise is a one-note, uncomprehending victim, and her rage at the world is hugely diminished by the constant dumbing down of her character. There's stretches of pages where she goes on about "hiding the badness" or ranting about a promise that never existed - your antagonist ought to have better than elementary school reasoning skill and vocabulary. This goes double for when you're trying to write about something as complex and nuanced as mental disorders.

The conflict itself feels forced and drawn out, and beyond unsubtle - the reader is never forced to make a connection. It's always "Hey, here's this DIRECT TRIGGER!" at least once an issue. Maise is very obviously supposed to be a counterpart for Jen, but the previously mentioned lack of reasoning and vocabulary shoots down any usefulness in the contrast. The ending resolves absolutely nothing - it hints at 'Fear' being some collective creation of the tenants, fueled by whatever's been dumped there, but then pushes all the blame on Maise alone, and gives precisely no details. Finally, Flo, the therapist, is pushy to the level of stalking - something directly acknowledged in the comic.

TL;DR version - it's a book about She-Hulk that doesn't contain any version of Jennifer Walters fans would recognize, doesn't contain a HULK until issue 6, has a antagonist who seems barely smarter than an 8-year-old, and treats PTSD in the most hamfisted way possible.

There's barely any punching for the punching crowd, and the literary crowd gets a tale that's strangely monosyllabic and lifeless. It's a story that could have been told well in a single issue, acting as a setup for the series. Instead, it's six issues of decompressed, barely interesting drivel.

when this series started I was kinda excited. I'm not a big Hulk fan, or She-Hulk fan, but it looked like she was having PTSD and was legitimately going to go all Rage Hulk and SMASH shit out of control, and would be having to deal with it the way Bruce did in classics.

Instead we get a Hulk that doesn't hulk in forever, and when she finally does...she's still got control over herself even though she looks like an Abomination rather than a Hulk.
