Why would a white paramilitary mercenary and a black 1980's punk work for a Japanese crime boss and his extra-dimensional benefactor?
It was New York in the 80's, before Giuliani cleaned it up. Anything was possible.
>>92840032
I never got the impression that Rocksteady was an actual mercenary or had any real military ties, but he just dressed that way to seem tough
>>92840103
I really wish the series had addressed how Shredder and Krang first collaborated.
>>92840032
$$$?
>>92840158
Oh ok so he's just a skinhead or street thug who adopted a paramilitary look? I figured he was one of those Ted Nugent "ads in the back of Soldier of Fortune" types
>>92840186
Well he was a doughy guy before getting mutated so yeah
>>92840032
The 80s was a weird time, man.
>>92840032
At first you're just taking that ninja crime-lord's money, and you don't even know about the aliens or the robot ninjas.
Then one day you're a retarded animal-man and you've got nowhere else to go. Your bosses bicker like an old married couple, they treat you and your friend like their dumb children, and you just go with it, you've got yourself a surrogate-family, you've got a roof over your head, food in your belly, and your whole job is just fighting and breaking things.
>>92840032
They had a lot of loyalty for some hired guns.
>>92840032
Money
>>92840312
Well after being mutated, what choice did they have?
I had a long running theory that Vernon was secretly Shredder. They don't share a scene together for several seasons.
>>92840363
Well in the IDW stuff they went muscle for hire, they usually ruin whatever criminal group they join.
>>92840289
All she's done is art, calm your fucking tits down
>>92840562
Calm your tits. You wouldn't be saying any of this if she weren't transgender.
>>92840475
>All she's done is art,
Campbell has shifted to writing duties, now.
>>92840660
and Greg Cipes pestered Ciro Nieli into making Renet and Shinigami Mikey's love interests on the new cartoon. Calm your tits.
Can we go back to talking about Bebop and Rocksteady?
>>92840715
>Campbell has shifted to writing duties, now.
And he's bringing his LGBTQ agenda with him!
>>92840817
The first LGBT characters in IDW TMNT were created by Eastman, Tom Waltz, and Paul Allor
>>92840793
Post your rares
>>92840939
>created by Eastman, Tom Waltz, and Paul Allor
Eastman has next to no creative input in the IDW series. He gets a credit because it's good for promotion.
>"Look! One of the TMNT creators approves of our comic! We're totally legitimate!"
Eastman hasn't directly written an IDW TMNT comic in 3 years.
>>92840032
TFW you realize Ninja Turtles was working the diversity angle decades ago.
>>92840674
He. Campbell is a HE.
>>92841260
God, they're so cute.
>>92840986
he still wrote the issues where one of those characters appeared.
>>92841129
She's fine.
>>92840032
A chance at raping her...I'd work with a group of mimes with down syndrome for that piece of ass.
Boredom, money, power, too stupid to say no...
Lots of reasons.
>>92840032
bepop and rocksteady in the 80's series were dressed for the 80's punk scene and were in fact street gang members.
also your mixing the nick origin with the 80s series. bepop and rocksteady were both white in the 80's series
>>92841577
no wait bebop was black in the 80's series. sorry i forgot and just googled it. but yeah they were dressed in punk style and gang members
>>92841577
>bepop and rocksteady were both white in the 80's series
say what?
>>92841545
You aren't far off. Their Archie counterparts ended up running off together to an alien world where they live as nudists.
>>92841620
Rocksteady is clearly dressed in paramilitary fatigues and more versed in the usage of firearms. It's likely he was an illegal arms dealer.
>>92841577
>>92840032
So whatever happened to all the other punks? The gang had like 10 people in it, but only Bebop and Rockstead was seen again after the second episode.
>>92840163
7 seasons, and they never said how Shredder went from asshole who wanted to take over the Foot Clan to armored guy working with an alien brain to take over the world. I feel like there is a large chapter missing there.
Also makes his whole betrayal against Splinter pointless since he seems to have left the foot anyway and went with robot ninjas instead.
>>92841833
The entire gang was mutated (including a bat) but they never appeared after the first season. Some have speculated the mutagen was diluted and the gang members mutated back and abandoned the Technodrome prior to it being sent back to Dimension X
>>92840032
Because that sounds super rad.
>>92842127
Do you prefer the "Splinter is a Rat" origin or "Splinter was a man turned rat" origin?
>>92842181
man turned into rat makes more sense for a guy that is a master at ninjitsu
But like many things, the 80's show did not really explain why he was a homeless weirdo living in the sewer pretending the rats were his furry friends. That guy seriously fell on some hard times after getting kicked out of the Foot.
I just wanna know where I can get a pair of Bebop's sunglasses.
those things look rad
>>92842253
You can work it out yourself, though. He's in a foreign country, with no friends, no family, and no previous employment history except the ninja clan that kicked him out. Really hard times.
The "man turned rat" origin also made his rivalry with Shredder more personal, and allowed for plots where he could seek a cure.
I actually like the 80's show for introducing the concepts like
>Splinter being Yoshi
>Shredder having mutant minions
>Baxter the Fly
>April actually having a day job and numerous human friends
>>92841314

they are, actually.
>>92840312
Or perhaps they were wondering why you would shoot a turtle before throwing him out of the technidrome
>>92842908
just a regular night on /tv/
>>92840379
Does he have a gun holster?
>>92842980
>Mr. Thompson, I'm Channel 6
>>92842933
You're a big fly.
>>92843148
terrible he did not show up very much
>>92843148
I fucking loved 2003 Baxter. That guy just kept getting fucking wrecked and coming back time and time again, he went from like losing an arm or a leg until he was a head in a jar, a giant robot crab thing, a zombie and all kinds of shit.
I always looked forward to and enjoyed seeing the return of BAXTER STOCKMAN in 2003.

I think it's for his pager, the thing people used before cellphones
>>92841638
i googled it and corrected myself. damn it's been years since i watched the 80's series.
