I'm still holding onto my theory that Kit has stopped using the God's Blood in her research due to her realization on the stairs and how Friedrich said that the sea dragon is reacting to "something that isn't there", which could mean it's going through a withdraw due to the lack of God's Blood. Especially since Friedrich said on the previous page that he believes that the God's Blood was stored in the tank.

If Morbi wants ULTIMATE SUFFERING and my theory is true, I can see Friedrich going and destroying all of Kit's research and any backups she has, not knowing she's not using the God's Blood, causing her to have to start over, with Renard's condition getting worse, causing her current breakthrough to not work anymore.

That's just the thing; it feels like its been dragging its heels for a long time now, and it's heading towards...a confrontation that isn't terribly interesting to me. All the content for the last year or so has been leading towards this, but I can't really find myself caring since what initially drew me to the comic was the characters and the pacing. A bunch of plot has been laid down but I don't really know Kit well enough as a character to give a fuck about this conflict. Freddy's gonna be in trouble, but after all this time we've only gotten some brief glimpses of him as a character. It's reaching a crescendo but I feel like we sat through a bunch of explanations on why we're reaching this peak without actually getting the necessary attachment to the characters.

Freddie isn't just gonna cut down Kit for being there. He's only going to do something if she tries to stop him or refuses to stop. At that point she'll be actively aiding an evil organization.

The problem is Poppy herself is having doubts. Remember her testing out teleportation and questioning that magician? That's why she's more shocked than angry there in that second last panel.

That said, I don't think he plans to try anyway. Killing Kit herself is far from the most efficient way to stop her from making the stuff, and Freddie is a pretty logical guy. Remember that Kit's only doing this because her father, her very weak and vulnerable and constantly-on-the-verge-of-dying father, needs very specific and ethically-questionable treatment to live. If he's out of the picture, Kit's got no reason to develop the cure anymore. Problem solved.
