Point of the film was that Goku adapts faster because he's very loose, but it creates holes in his guard because of this. Vegeta is always focused and tight, but this causes him to be too rigid in most situations and he can't adapt as fast. Both of them still have some flaws to work out. The worst universe in the tournament has only found three guys for the tournament so far because he's so shit at everything. Not only can they not find guys, but they had to destroy a city in the process of trying to find guys because word broke out what was going on and everyone went crazy and started destroying and looting. Turns out there is no one strong in that universe since all the higher ups don't do their job at all. Destruction deity is too timid, Kai is too conniving, etc.

I don't remember where this was said, but Toriyama once said it's because all the Saiyans that died from Frieza blowing up their planet have had their souls cleansed in Hell and reborn by the time Vegeta even learns of the Dragon Balls. DB Super was actually planned to release a year later than it did, but because the movie was such a hit, they wanted to ride the momentum and sped up production. But Goku didn't transform to fight Buu and Buu was ripped for that fight. Plus SSG is a tremendous boost. Goku went from being oneshot to having a protracted fight against Beerus. Even if they're only half as strong as Goku, which they shouldn't be since Goten almost killed 18 while holding back, they should be on par with "Don't Hit my Bloomers" Vegetables.

Huh. They were brought back and taken away from Namek before the planet blew up. That mass resurrection was the first time they overlooked the whole "state of the body" rule though.

Up to the Saiyan Saga, they always worried about how they'd conserve the bodies. Then, when Kuririn was brought back after Namek, Porunga said that putting his body back together was a freebie and afterwards every resurrection seemed to completely restore the bodies too and no one worried about them again, aside from Freeza's in RoF.
