I'm on about episode 10 and I feel like the characters are just a lot more boring than they were in Atla. Korra is okay but I think she lacks a personality that makes her unique enough to compare to Aang.
I like Korra she's cute, but I feel like she has autism or something. Her voice actress kind of sucks. Bolin is kind of funny, but he feels like a bargain bin Sokka. Mako is pretty boring.
It just makes me miss the old characters. I miss Toph. Why is her daughter so boring and serious when Toph constantly made jokes and was probably the least serious of the original team avatar?
Also I'm kind of mad how weak all the benders are that they all constantly lose to a bunch of guys with taser sticks. Wouldn't they have a clear advantage considering they have magic powers?
But it seems the equalists kick the shit out of them and it's not even that hard.

Original series is definitely better than Korra. However the original series doesn't have best girl.

If you stick with the show, which you should not do under any circumstances, you will find this to be a trend. The antagonizing forces are a threat until they are suddenly not.
Korra is the one among the teens with an actual personality that is unique; the rest falls to the older people. All the characters having various degrees of autism would explain things though.

Yeah It felt like a really weird unorthodox sport. Wouldn't it be more reasonable if they were going to have some kind of bending sport for it to just be a 1v1 duels instead of just dodgeball with rocks, flames, and water splashes?
Bending was supposed to represent martial arts so why didn't they just make a bending boxing league?

While this is true, it's Aang's but in reverse. She's a hotheaded character who is willing to settle her disagreements with battle (despite not being very good at it), and is sneaky enough to achieve her goals only when they aren't that important.
More annoyingly, her character progression resets every season. Every. Damn. Season. She doesn't even master airbending by the end of the show, she's still pretty bad at it.
