I have to agree. When you have a show where everyone is nice, forgiving and accepting, with very small flaws (or flaws that get played as jokes, therefore they won't change them) and even Sugar said nobody is 100% evil in the show, suddenly you have someone like Lars who is so different from everyone else, even Sadie. He's an outcast, extremely socially anxious, sarcastic and with lots of things he WANTS to change but feels unable to, this is the one character who needed the exposure and improvement.
But it's still annoying that all his past experiences did nothing to help with this, like he always went "this life-changing event is happening in my life, what could I do?"

There's clearly atmosphere in the Pink Dimension, the waves of grain are waving. Why Steven can't breathe in it is a noted puzzle. It's not necessarily a physical thing. It's a property that obviously prevents Steven from residing or even hiding in that dimension on a more permanent basis. Whether this is a simple plot device or something more bordering on psychological symbolism, just in terms of setting I think it adds a very nice, mystical hue to the place.

The last episode I watched of this show was when Steven switched bodies with Lars and had him act like a complete tool (even more so than usual).

That episode made me feel a lot of empathy towards Lars, seeing how similar he was to me. That same episode also made me feel pissed off at Steven for trying to force a relationship between Lars and Sadie, even though he fucking knew from Garnet that love takes time and effort and can't be forced like that.

The fact everyone scolded Lars while letting the weird gem kid who possesses bodies get away with his creepy shit was infuriating.

This is the whole fucking point of his character--he's a foil to Steven, who is incredibly honest with himself and others.

The whole arc that Lars just had in the new episodes is him realizing that, around Steven, he actually can just be his asshole, garbage self and it's okay and Steven still values his friendship regardless. Lars realizes that he doesn't have to be a poser and that if he hates how much running away that he always does all he has to do is stop running.

For one most of these "trans fandoms" are made of tranny kids who are virtue signaling to try to be inclusive, autismos who think their pattern seeking means shit, or actual trans or confused kids. Most of these grow up out of that phase, some don't and end up perpetuating toxic ideas about what gender is and reinforce that there needs to be hard lines while simultaneously believing you can jump between the two.
But gender differences are hard wired into every society on earth so it's easy to feel like you might not be right if you're young and confused yet drawn to something that doesn't fall into societal definition.
