One of the little things that I really like about this series is that you can see how far the Dark Judges and their minions have evolved by how their speech bubbles change. Psiren's was normal and then became spikey, Fear is spikey but has also developed a lisssp and Death's have become black with white text.

What Judge Death should have noticed is that crime is committed only by blacks, and therefore he should have made being black a crime instead. He threw the baby out with the bathwater by criminalizing life.

It's done a good job of making the DJs scary again. And we saw from the earlier Deadworld focus stories that they can still keep their kinda campy/comedic personalities because that's what comes about *after* when they're bored in the entirely dead world. But right now, in the chaos of the apocalypse? Fucking terrifying. Judge Fear is a guy with a scary face in a big knight mask and he's legitimately the scariest shit I've seen in 40k in a LONG time in the last few progs. The art is perfect, more so than the writing (which I don't think is bad at all, the opposite, but which does occasionally go into some kinda tired places).

But yeah the hints are the Dark Judges are manifestations of some urge or impulse which is bigger than any one world and which has come about before and will come about again. So your description in >>92794448 may turn out to be relatively accurate.

There was a one-off story about that, IIRC- it followed one of the guys on one of the meat wagons who clean up the bodies, and he slowly went insane as he realized just how many of those bodies were Dredd's. Don't have it or the prog number offhand, unfortunately.
