I never knew about it at all until after seeing the live action movie. When I first saw the show I assumed it was some shitty cartoon adaptation of the movie (because there were a lot of shitty cartoon adaptations like that that I hated) and didn't watch it.

Eventually I ended up watching it. It's kind of alright. I don't find it as boring as most shows from that era.
