I get that the first movie was touching the topic of not letting stereotypes get in the way of how we treat one another, but if it was like, a primal instinct in their past then of course it was going to miss the mark.

If they do do a sequel I hope it's more relatable to society like how the poor are marginalized or something. Also I hope they don't try to put the characters into a relationship. There could be a few jabs at it but I'd be worried it would be at the cost of the plot.

I read that they might reveal that Judy is actually trans. The director is a male gay himself, and this issue is very important to him. My main concern is with whether or not the studio execs try to force them to suddenly include reptiles, birds, and primates somehow. I like it just being non-primate mammals instead of a cliche hodge-podge. Their current setup also gives them the chance to include lesser-seen mammals.

Yeah, the sequel's going to be Zootopia 2: Eco-13.

Seems a race of aliens have landed outside of Zootopia. Their ship's hyper advance but the population itself are dumb, relying on the ship's AI and robots to run the normally self-sustaining ship. Unfortunately, prior to crashing, the ship's AI was deactivated due to certain events and the crash had severely damaged the ship. There're only a relative handful of functional robots and there's a bunch of crazed robots wandering about as well.

The Zootopian government has declared the land that these fat, blobby aliens landed on as Eco-13. Seeing as these aliens are pretty much useless without their robots, Eco-13's turned into a slum.

Nick and Judy are assigned to police them.

But not all's well in Eco-13. Stupid, self-entitled and arrogant as these aliens are, there is nonetheless a daaaaark conspiracy. For these "hoo-mans" believe that this planet, which they call "Ee-arth", rightfully belongs to them. And they have a cache of weapons on their ship that can easily let them achieve world domination. If only they can get the AI online again.

Now, Nick and Judy must tail a yellow garbage bot as it follows on the trail of a rogue robot and they're blah blah blah conspiracy blah blah Wall-E blah blah dimensional portal to Frozenville.

If they go the first route (and I hope they do because I'm shipping trash), then it'd be cool if they just already have Nick and Judy as a couple in the beginning of the film. That way we can avoid the "will they or won't they?" song and dance while making the core of their movie about the struggle of their romantic relationship. You could get characters in Judy's family who were OK with Nick, but become suddenly NOT OK with him when they see he's dating Judy.
