Deadman has so much potential to be a very interesting character/franchise.

I did not.

Because Batman sells
>>
>>92737943
It's amazing how so many writers just failed to make Justice league dark readable.
>>
>>92737968
I wonder how true this statement is nowadays. You think even normies would get tired of Batmen.
>>
>>92737139
It was okay, but at the same time it was blatantly obvious that Batman was just the marketing face in it. He only filled in the role of "the must-have mainstream superhero".
>>
>>92737139
>We will never have a constantine solo cartoon with the occasional cameos of obscure characters of the dc universe
>>
>>92738027

There has never, for any character, ever been a time where anyone has gotten tired of them through over-exposure. That's a myth that's never actually played out.
>>
>>92737139
I'm glad we got our Dark Justice League, even if it was animated. Which really, considering DC's track record these days, is a much better option than making anything "live-action".
>>
>>92737139
Batman shouldn't have been in it and I'm a batfag.
And Constantine should not have the powers of Dr. Fate. In this movie he's Superman of magic.

There was no fucking reason for Batman to be in the film and Constantine had his name pronounced incorrectly, but it was decent enough.
>>
>>92738135
In fairness, a lot of their animated films have been shit as of late as well.

it was pretty great. Batman was unnecessary but I'm so used to Batwank that I'll take it. The grunts were actually kinda funny. Matt Ryan did a good job, again, and Zatanna was great holy tits Z!
>>
>>92738207
You say Decent enough but I'm using the hellblazer/Zatanna Vertigo standard here so what's decent enough about it?
>>
>>92738154
Z was far more powerful, at least they had Constantine using items a few times instead of spell slinging. But this is new52 version...
>>
>>92738221
They really have and it's incredibly disheartening.
>terrible adaptions of terrible stories with terrible dialogue with terrible delivery all done in terrible animation with terrible character designs.

I going with the "is it a decent film" standard of "decent enough" not a "it gets things right from the comic" sense.
>>
>>92738240
I, for one, am very happy about this sudden Zatanna push we've been getting.

>>92737139
No, I really fucking hated it, actually. Though it's so forgettable that I'd forgotten how much I hated it until just now.

I'm really sick of Ryan as Constantine. He was fine in the TV show, even if the show itself was dogshit, but his fake cockney voice is so flat, so boring and so uninteresting it makes the already stale Korean animation of the DC animated movies a serious chore to sit through. On the other end of the spectrum, hamming it up way too much, is whatever gormless idiot they got to play Deadman.

Batman being shoehorned in is annoying, and boy do they wank him off, but like the shit animation, that'd par for course with DCAMU at this point. Zatanna and Swampy are such non-entities they're barely worth mentioning. If they're going to start giving Zatanna a focus, they need to give her some kind of personality and start fleshing out her relationship with John. It's seriously like reading New 52 JLD all over again, and it's honest to god giving me PTSD flashbacks to that shit, but I remember comics where it's handled well, like Books of Magic.

Felix Faust is a shit villain, and if you're going to kill of Richie Simpson, why not use the canon death the show had been hinting at since his introduction? Come to think of it, all the magic in this show is dumbed down ridiculously from the comics. Nothing is given any visual flair at all, it's all Doctor Strange Harry Potter laserbeams, when DC's magic sector has such a more fascinating approach to mysticism that can be expressed visually in a far more interesting way. But no, stilited Korean flash figures and lightsaber mandalas. 0 effort, 0 care, 0 point. Yes, I'm mad.

Now to go back to forgetting DC is still producing Horror/Magic media

Batman on the cover sells a lot, that enough reason.
>>
>>92737190
He's got good banter in this and JL Action. Is he this catty in the comics?
>>
A complete waste of time and money. The first few minutes were interesting with all the suicides, but then it just became another good vs evil schlockfest, and a poorly animated one at that.

Waste of characters, and Batman had no right to be involved.

>>92737853
Deadman is one of the most wrongfully used characters in DC. He's got limited abilities and his best stories are ones where he isn't involved in some 'save the world' mission. The more personal and smaller events are far more in line with his character and abilities
>>
>>92739534
Not in terms of storytelling and quality.
>>
>>92738786
What?

Are you stupid? that's not the point, the point was to have a character that wasnt familiar with magic to justify the exposition. Fucking autists. Seriously Batman haters are irrational as fuck
>>
>>92739839
Why not use Tim Hunter or Dr.Thirteen then? Shoving Batman in there is a shiity way of doing thing cause now the move has to bend backwards just to give Batman stuff all the while forgetting about the characters who are actually essential to the plot
>>
>>92737139
>>92737185
>>92737853

It was nice seeing Deadman in toon form, but that fucking voice.

I really enjoyed it. I especially liked Batman's humorous (non/deadpan) reactions to all the Supernatural shit.

I do question the loss of a certain character towards the end. He could have been used well in other entries, rather than dying on his first.
>>
>>92739927
Because Batman does that and also sells.
>>
>>92739927
Batman did nothing in the movie and didnt stole anyone's spotlight. If anything batman is the reason you got the movie. Stop being a bitch, you don't like batman, get over it obsessed faggot. Truth is that if fucking green arrow was in the movie doing exactly same as batman you wouldnt cry,
>>

>rather than dying on his first.

Kek, i bet you the team will go to hell in the sequel and see him there, pic related the logic story for JL Dark.

Yes...if it was a batman vs spiderman movie
>>
>>92740142
>Batman did nothing in the movie and didnt stole anyone's spotlight
Then we don't need him.
Simple as that
>>
>>92740107
Does Batmam sell or is it just that they put Batman in everything they sell?
>>
>>92737139
>Batman and the League did not need to be in here and were largely just a marketing ploy to get people to buy it
>Animated Constantine is terrible
>Character designs are shit
>Swamp Thing is underutilized

It was a 5/10 honestly. Story wasn't bad, the Batwanking was minimal and the animation was solid but everything else dragged it down.
>>
>>92740298
>>92740354
Correction: WB/DC believes Batman sells. Whether or not he actually does is irrelevant.

Batman haters are delitional.
>>
Not bad. I thought they could have done more to earn the R rating though...
>>
>>92740354
The highest selling animated movie is Batman vs Robin and they stopped doing Superman movies because they weren't performing well.
>>
>>92740490
That's from the sacond wave, the highest one was Superman: doomsday but that was a really different time and back then that was extremely hyoed... sadly they fucked up hard, god that movie is shit.
>>
>>92740520
Are Brianiac movie and Superman vs Elite part of the second wave because those didn't do well hence why they've retreated to doing Batman movies. They seem to be stuck in another rut since Gods and Monsters also didn't do well yet Bad Blood and Justice League vs Teen Titans did.
>>
>>92740520
>the highest one was Superman: doomsday
That was the very first movie from the run of these DCA movies that started in 2007 and it was ridiculously overhyped. Looking back they really did drop in quality
>>
Perhaps one more intuitive and articulate can give voice to this problem I've had with all these recent DC films:

They all "feel" the same, and that feeling is bad. I dunno whether it's a rushed pacing or something, but it all just seems so flat and half assed and kinda shit.

The last decent DC movie I watched was Flashpoint. Tower of Babel wasn't so bad either. But all the rest that stem from War?

Same mediocre feeling. Is it the direction? The art style? The writing?

Can someone pinpoint what's wrong with them for me please? They all just feel so lifeless and off.
>>
>>92740672
Worth mentioning that 90% of the movies following War are part of a connected universe (if you wanna be technical, post Flashpoint-ending).
Might be a director issue or something.
>>
cramming batman into jld is just as dumb as forcing harley into suicide squad or iron man into guardians of the galaxy.
>>
>>92740583
I know m8
>>92740769
Batman was fighting vampires and werewolves in the 40's

Fuck off.>>92740656
The hype was so big, looking back even the bad movies like the supergirl one were way better. The action etc.
>>
>>92740769
Harley on Suicide Squad works, though. She's a B-List, street-level villain. The idea of her moving on from the Joker is interesting and full of potential. Her relationship with Deadshot, an unattached nutcase, made sense from her perspective, and could've lead to some interesting character moments between the two of them. Floyd is a rich character that plays well off others and has a previous history of banging his shrinks, so it made sense for him too.

The problem was that everything Suicide Squad has been handled by idiots post-New 52. Hell, probably before that.
>>
>>92740672
First wave had staff juggling so that you had different people working on each new feature. Second wave is largely just the same people with the only standouts being Bruce Timm works like God and Monsters and yes even Killing Joke
>>
Everything I've ever read of Constantine is

But he doesn't fucking do anything, he just lets everyone else do stuff. When does he do something?

Stop reading comics where Constantine interacts with capes. He's a conman in an action book, he either does fuck all or shoots laser beams.

Read Hellblazer, all 300 issues, and Books of Magic, and Alan Moore's Swamp Thing when you want more.
