It wasn't forced.

The problem is the romance is in direct opposition to what Thor stories are about. So attempts to keep it drags Thor away from the stories people WANT to see. The romance in the first film was done well but was the wrong franchise for it.

If MCU want romance then they should pick a hero who is known for stories revolving around his partner. Vision and Wanda would at least work because there are stories they can use. Even if they are not even dating currently.
