The simmetry you presented along with the symbology Snyder hid on the movie did nothing for its poor execution, Batman has not real ideological conflict with Superman, Lex makes a monster he can't control, people accusing an alien that flies and fires laser form the eyes of using bullets to kill people from a remote village. Whoever edited BvS did a poor job. One thing is hating the Marvel/Disney style, another is saying Snyder did a good job on BvS, the movie is a mess. And there are plenty other superhero/comic book movies that don't fall on the Marvel formula and are good so it's not even an option. This is what you get when you put director for great visuals in charge of something like BvS that movie could work if done by someone else, and written by someone else.

>ignoring the "claiming" part

Claiming a movie is "scarier than The Exorcist" does not make it any good, it's just a expression to fool the audience in getting predisposed to be scared. Hell, that tagline was used in Paranormal Activity.

Lucas claiming his movies were "dense" roughly translates as "I use green screen A LOT". It says nothing about quality.

Same way making bookends in a movie does not qualify it as "dense" or a masterpiece, since it's movie making 101

An opinion that is shared with many people. Snyder's style is not a fit for every movie. I would really hate if DC Warner used it on the Shazam movie. Fox is finally getting their shit right if very movie gets its own feel, Logan and Deadpool are completely different and if that is what works for them good. Man of Steel is a nice entry, Watchmen is due to its great source material. But look at Zack's other movies and you get that he is more style than substance, remember Sucker Punch, 300 and you start to see why he fails.

300 was actually one of the few things he did that actually worked

It's not like Frank Miller was ever any good of a writer, so the over-the--top narration worked in his favor with his filters and slow-mo style.

Then he did Watchmen, and revealed to be a one tricky pony, that thinks that making a good comic book movie is doing perfectly framed shots just like a comic panel. Forgetting about everything else.
>>
>>92732876

>300 was actually one of the few things he did that actually worked

Have you gone back and rewatched it? Outside of the nu-metal 2000's it doesn't hold up anymore, that aesthetic is horribly dated at this point and the movie can't support itself outside of that.

>Batman has not real ideological conflict with Superman
But he does. Its not a GOOD one, but thats the entire point. That they BOTH fear that the other one will be judge, jury, and execution and is too out of touch with their humanity. The movie makes this abundantly clear, going as far as to line up the two scenes the highlight these fears the best one right after the other (Bruce's Knightmare, Clark seeing the headlines of the staged killings of the bat-branded criminals).

Batman's whole realization is that they ARE the same and arent actually at conflict.
>Lex makes a monster he can't control
Just like he made Bizarro in the comics and couldnt control him. Just like the guy that made Doomsday in the comics couldnt control him. Its like Lex's big character flaw is over-confidence.

> people accusing an alien that flies and fires laser form the eyes of using bullets to kill people from a remote village

Uh, no? Did you miss the whole part with the flamethrowers? In fact Lois brought up the bullet as a big deal because they werent mentioned in any official reports or being used as evidence.

It was a good movie because it was about how people can have completely different interpretations and views of the same event depending and their own history and experiences, a theme I don't see explored often enough.

It was a good comic book movie because it followed in the footsteps of iconic comic stories like Birthright, Secret Origin, Dark Knight Returns, Kingdom Come, Morrison's JL, and basically all of cape comics-- in that it told a new, unique story, reusing elements from previous works, that adds something new to the overall mythos/canon of the characters.

The MCU has had white male leads in all its movies. Their first non-white male lead will still be a male lead. DC is jumping straight to a woman after an intro to the CU that would've worked better standalone and two critically shaky followups.

This movie will get good reviews because every girl like the one in that picture and her boyfriend will campaign to have the opinions of anyone who doesn't agree it's one of the greatest superhero movies of all time and has ushered in a whole new age for the genre removed from any review site anyone actually uses.

In five years when the cape flick is dead from SJW carcass-picking, DC blames Marvel for oversaturating the market.

This is how I know that you are a pleb. Yous eek the words "revenge tragedy" and automatically thinks that it is good, just because it makes you feel special.

Fact is: This is the worst attempt at a revenge tragedy that I ever saw, the climax is completely averted by one stupid word, the tragedy is negated, there is no tragedy in it, just an automatic shift in characterization. If Batman had killed Superman and THEM learned that he was a good guy, THAT would be a revenge tragedy.

You can confess now that you never heard the term before reading a shitty review saying it, and never truly read or watched a good revenge tragedy. What you are going to do right now is Google "revenge tragedy" to try to pretend that you know something about it.

As it is, it's just a guy playing with juvenile archetypes that are not better written than fucking Naruto.

Sony is the only studio worse than WB. The latter at least has enough sense not to tell the male audience to fuck off because this is a movie by and for womyn, no manbabies allowed.

Ghostbusters 2016 is the only movie I'm aware of where half the advertising budget went to telling people not to see it.

It was hilarious when the director and fatty backed down post-flop and said "oh i guess we exaggerated a bit"

Can't say about Snatched, but GitS had fallen out of favour with SJWs because of the "whitewashing" bullshit, they wouldn't promote it.

And the Resident Evil movies, trash as they are, are among the ones that SJWs like to pretend don't exist, when they complain about lack of female representation or somesuch shit.

They only care when BIG franchises get female protagonists, which according to them, pisses off the nerds.

First Class is boring trash. The whole "Let's teach Raven to love again" trilogy is garbage.

>WHAT? WOMEN LEECH OFF OF MEN'S MONEY MOST OF THE TIME SO IF MEN REFUSE TO WATCH OUR MOVIE BECAUSE WE INSULTED THEM FOR A SOLID YEAR BEFORE THE MOVIE CAME OUT, FEWER WOMEN WILL END UP WATCHING IT ALSO?
>>

See the thing about Logan and other good X-movies is that they illustrate why WB making a good movie in this otherwise abysmal franchise they've set up wouldn't be unprecedented. More than half the X-films are bad, a couple are among the worst capeshit ever shat out, and a few are good and even great.

But some of them being great just makes it a bigger tragedy that they belong to a series with shit like Origins: Wolverine. Same will be true if Wondy's good.

The only fact that autocorrect brings this word up without even knowing it existed disgust me.

It already is, it's gonna get ten times worse from here on out. -_-

WB aims for high and mighty and ends low on RT

Disney aims for safe and fun and gets it done, though people are beginning to get bored

Fox just sits back and and watches what happens without aiming for anything, the directors just do whatever they want

Sony just rides on whatever the others are doing

It was fun, but my only complaint is that they trashed Batman's villain roster to do a Lego Dimensions advertisement instead with mostly WB/Universal movie villains. Fuck you guys, I went to see Joker and co fuck shit up not Wicked Witch of the West.
>>
>>92733512
>That they BOTH fear that the other one will be judge, jury, and execution

But Batman's view of Clark is speculative where Batman's actions are exactly what Clark sees them as. Batman is maiming and killing outside of the law. Superman is just flying around begrudgingly doing hero work.

>Resident Evil
>not a big nerd franchise
Oh I want the SJW issue exterminated from this world so bad. They're probably the same jackass hipster that claim they're such nerds now because it's now "cool" to be a nerd.

Agree. I actually felt bad when Sauron showed up, the poor Tolkien family already had to put up with enough shit with the Hobbits

DC actually has prominent female superheroes. It isn't that hard.
Meanwhile, Marvel have... none.

>>92736398
Marvel has many but they're all mutants.

Legacy character! There's also She-Hulk, Sue Storm, arguably Spiderwoman because of the name... all major Marvel female characters are tied to either bigger teams or other make characters

at this point they would be better off cancelling that and giving Mantis a movie

MoS is excellent at best
BvS is half and half but the Ultimate ed. is more tolerable.
SS is an insult to intelligence.

That being said, I NEED WW and JL to be good. Hopefully leagues better than MoS.
>>
>>92731031

Why do you think it's going to be good? What do you think it's going to bring new to the table? How do you reconcile that it's essentially Captain America + Thor?
>>
>>92736809
>MoS is excellent
compare to BvS and SS? yes.
it's funny i founded MoS shitty but when BvS and SS came out wasn't that bad side by side.
>>
>>92731031
I really hope this movie fails due to that lay it on thick false sentimentality fake crying review.
>>
>>92736398

Obviously having a prominent female superhero isn't hard, the main problem for DC is actually making a good film.
>>
>>92731430
>zero female characters with the iconic status of WW

so first of all, the only DC characters that sell are the ones that are "iconic" and there are plenty like Storm, Valkyrie, Magik, Scarlet Witch, Dazzler had the power cosmic at one time (because i was looking up heralds of galactus and read that somewhere)...

maybe DC focuses on "iconic" for the sake of being "iconic". you can't seriously say that anyway because the origins of WW is involved in BDSM. so try again.
>>
>>92731106
I'm just gonna say it.
We got those exact kind of tweets from Ghostbusters sneak previews. Hell, Kevin Smith gave a speech to that affect.

i'm sure you could splice up a montage of tom cruise from any action movie and still get the same fucking result

If Wonder Woman is actually, by some kind of miracle, what turns the DCEU around, I want to see this fucking board flooded with Murder Woman snapping Marvel's neck pictures.
>>
>>92737064
It's actually the other way around.
This movie doesn't have to be good. It just has to be empowering. And you can silence all criticism after the fact.

I can already think of at least three people that are going to ignore the fact that I've vocally hated every other DCEU movie and act like the reason I hate this one is because sexism. That's the narrative. It's preinstalled for WB's convenience.
>>
>>92737319

I guess it really doesn't matter if the movie is good or not. I guess for WB it's about making sure they are first to capture that market and for this audience it's about the fact this movie exists at all.
