KSBD is so close to being a really good comic, but the art is so rough to look at sometimes. The lines are gritty, nervous and consistently the same density. The colors, while interesting, tend to get drown out in the overuse of chiaroscuro that masks the lack of drawing backgrounds. It leads to weird color compositions combined with the jittery lines that make the comic a discordant mess to look at.

That being said, I applaud the dynamic compositions! It makes Morbi's Poppy look like lazy, incompetent trash in contrast. Very few artists can nail composition in comics well, so I look forward to the artist improving as time goes on.

Abba is a really capable artist, he puts out very clean and polished art (look at the spreads and the maps, and his other illustrations) so it's definitely a time problem.

I sort of blame the detailed spreads and establishing shots for the fluctuations in art quality. These things have made KSBD popular in the first place and they're sort of the trademark of the comic, but they probably give him time management problems since that shit takes forever to make.

Maybe he should do what Ashley Cope does and take breaks between chapters so he can build a sizable buffer. This way he can tackle the tedious complex stuff while keeping the quality on a high standard. Does he even work full time on KSBD right now? When he started the comic he had a day job.

Sadly, this is true. It's why I compared it to Poppy; the artist puts a lot of thought into the work and doesn't bog it down with poor ideas. Morbi puts more effort in his porn than he does his comic.

Speaking as someone who is in art school and planning on making comics eventually, many of these artists suffer from rushing to push out an update and not spending enough time on the art/planning stage. This is an effect of an audience or patreon pushing the artist to develop content fast, but the advent of an outside source tends to hurt the work more it helps.

His form actually being the whole abyss would be fucking tight. I think he's probably just a mass of fire inside with eyes in it or something. Or pure darkness or nothing. I hope we never see it. Even if he does start moving around I want the box to stay closed with only his limbs coming out.

All you need to do is read the comic. The under page stories aren't necessary to understand what's going on but they do help and add more stuff to the world that may be relevant later on, but you don't need to read them. You can also read Abbadon's tumblr killsixbilliondemons.tumblr.com where he answers questions but you don't need to read that either. You can ask a question there.

Pretty important, they're basically as much a part of the world as the comic itself. They arent directly related but they give insight and develop the world, lore and mythos.

Those are removed after submissions are closed and the content has been incorporated into the comic, so as to not break the flow of the story for anyone re-reading it.

I think that's happened about three times now, the most recent being the devil contest which now has it's own tumblr since Abbadon wanted somewhere to post all the entrees even if they don't end up being the ones he uses in the comic.

That, and one early on page when Alison first arrives in throne that was taken out when Abbadon went back and colored the first part of the first book, but it was just a page showing a busy street and had no real relevance.
