Is this commmenter right /co/?
>do not add any modern trends
i think he means fads, since going the opposite and only using rotary phones and apple IIs is not very good either
>dont make your character too stupid
usually true, very few liked characters were significantly under standard intelligence
>add some heart
well, if you dont like what you make, the quality will suffer
>tons of comedy
subjective, some people dont like comedy, but great comedy can make your show timeless, watchable long after your animation has been super annuated by time
>no fart or butt jokes
subjective, some people like fart jokes, but this kind of comedy is definitely a small dose for most people
>dont abuse a character
or rather dont pointlessly abuse a character, it should be funny, dramatic, used for plot, used for character, but it has to accomplish something, not just abuse for its own sake
>make the show enjoyable for all ages
good thing to strive for, nothing kills a show more than narrow niche appeal, and if you can have true multi-generational appeal, your show will really last the test of time, as adults show it to their kids
>make your character likeable
this one needs explaining, not just liekable as in nice, but you have to be able to enjoy them, you can have a complete asshole, but if he is sufficiently charismatic or awesome, then people will like him, but having a mean abrasive person who has no purpose other than to be a jerk, then of course no one will like him
>Do not break the fourth wall, unless funny
well, a few shows can get away with dramatic fourth wall breaking, but they are usually the exception, the "unless its funny" is important here, since what is funny to some is not funny to all

In general, yeah, these are all good points - except for the "tons of comedy" thing.
let's bump this again
it's simple not every one want a simple story ....in anime they ruine it with fanservice because in Cartoon who by Toys= Kids ..Many good show stop because low of sell ..Now it just about money not art ...
>Do not break the Source Wall

Well no shit he is right, these are basic points pretty much everyone could make, however I will give him props since common sense is rare nowadays, and he seems young from the way he writes.
He must take into consideration that someone could make a cartoon with values that are opposite from his, and it could still be good based on the creator's talent. Cliches are tools that should be used cleverly. I mean if a cartoon is full of fart jokes but they are actually well done, I don't think anyone will complain.

>don't make your character too stupid (TTG is a huge example)

>some people don't like comedy
well western companies are generally too cheap to shell out for proper action scenes so comedy is what you get
Interesting that this guy doesn't even mention action, maybe he should be more precise about what kind of cartoons he's referring to?
Comedy is for normalfags that can't sit still for more than 5 minutes
