The question is how much we'll learn. Just the basis we need to understand his role in the ST (who he is, where he came from, what did he do during the Palpatine years) or a complete backstory. I'd rather have the former and leave everything else ambiguous. Leave us guessing whether there are more like him, how does Thrawn's fear of the threats in the UR ties in and such.

Into their ranks? They didn't. The only non-humans in the Imperial hierarchy are the Inquisitors (because the Empire has to settle with what they can get), Thrawn and Mas Amedda. But the latter two are only by grace of the Emperor, who isn't discriminatory by species (because all lifeforms are below him, and thus are his to use and discard as he sees fit). Imperial personnel my be discriminatory though as we've yet to see any large number of non-humans in Imperial ranks or even Stormtroopers.

The only real big change in regards to Imperial military personnel is that they accept women into all facets of the military.

It plays just fine, but when I reached Dantooine and started exploring, the grass did that thing where it glitches into the skybox via lines. I saved, turned off grass, reloaded and then waited for ages as not only did it not load but it also did not return to the menu.

And yes, I have tried every fix. I'm probably going to uninstall and reinstall and start over if it doesn't work, but I'll save that for when I'm less busy.

Because many significant worlds that are part of the Empire (many of them being in the core or interior of the galaxy) are populated either largely, or exclusively, by non-humans. And the Emperor, despite being a dictator, still had to uphold an image for the general population. Most citizens of the Empire see him as a hero. To have the Empire go and actively alienate the majority of the Empire's citizens would not bode well for his regime and would've given rise to the rebellion a lot sooner.

People just assume the Empire as a whole is racist/speciesist because of that one guy in charge of that cell block on the Death Star and because of the all-human cast in the OT. Which Lucas probably did to save resources for makeup and shit.

I really don't have any mojoy issues with RotS other than the baffling way Lucas handled this fight.
Yoda retreating could work, but it doesn't really gel when the last leg of the fight had Yoda seemingly gaining the upper hand and the Emperor freaking out that Yoda was pushing his lightening back.

My simple fix: keep everything the same, but don't have the Emperor appear so taken aback+switch out he shot of him hanging and flailing to him staring down at Yoda menacingly.
Then alter/delete the portion of dialogue where he and the clone talk about thinking Yoda might be dead, since in this version, Palp stares at Yoda while Yoda retreats.

BAM, done.
The version in the movie is shit and could EASILY be completely removed at almost no detriment. (other than wondering why Yoda didn't try to fight).

Han was the only character with any kind of depth in ANH. Cliche and simple, yes, but it was more than the one-note "wide eyed enthusiastic kid" role of Luke and Leia who starts off strong, but has no kind of character arc and spends the climax of the movie standing around.

After that, yeah, TESB and RotJ had his character go nowhere after completing his arc in the first movie. I have a controversial opinion that the romance was detrimental to both Han and Leia, as it reduced them both to just stock lovers in the dark times. Han sorta proves (again) that he cares and doesn't want Leia just for the thrill of it (I guess? Admittedly, I never felt their relationship was anything more than a fling) and Leia... accepts her true feelings, or something? That's the extent of their "character development" in TESB and RotJ.

Yeah, the starfighter design is disappointing in the ST. It's just the same X-wings and TIEs with a couple of changes, like the shape of the engines on the X-wings or the reverse colour scheme on TIEs.

In PT, most ships looked unlike anything in OT. And when they did look similar, it made sence in context, like Jedi starfighters in E3 and V-wings eventually evolving into TIEs.

The Finalizer is probably the most defferent-looking from it's predecessor and it still unavoidably just an ISD.

I like the rickety design of these things. Hopefully they're just hiding some of the more unique designs for later, as the whole first teaser was just TFA 1.5. If anything, they have to make new designs for Battlefront II to utilize. What is the FO going to fly? Just the recolored TIEs? People really tend to overexaggerate Rey's piloting skills. She takes off by dragging Falcon through the dirt and wrecking half the Niima Outpost. Then she wants to fly up where, as Finn warns her, she'd get blasted off the sky right away. Then she drags the Falcon through the dirt some more. The SSD flythrough is the most impressive feat she has done. After the escape is done she never pilots anything again until the very end.

I'm of belief that Rey's exceptionality is less of a result of JJ trying to make her hypercompetent, but rather his hackneyed attempt at "teasing" her Force sensitivity. Remember, we were supposed to think that Finn was the Force user, even though it was obvious from the start that Rey was the protagonist and the lead of the new trilogy. JJ, being tone deaf as usual, then decided to "subtly" indicate that she is strong in the Force. So he basically looked at the skills young Anakin and Luke exemplied and rolled them into one while making it all super overt and obvious.

Rey is not a bad character. She just had the misfortune of her only story so far being a movie fully controlled by a bad writer. Same problem as with Kirk in 09.

For me, prequel era was made by Dark Horce's Republic comics. However, they were published around the time movies themselves came out. Disney is focusing on the OT content right now. It is fine, but it expands on the characters and events we already know very well. It is just the matter of time before they shift their attention to ST era. I'm hoping i will happen after TLJ, because it would be a logical move to do so. Some of the mysteries will be lifted in the film itself and it will give freedom to other writers to write about this preiod in history without stepping on the film's toes.

Things will get better after TLJ (hopefully) lifts the limits imposed by the mystery box and we'll be able to get some more expansive stories about the NR, FO and Luke's Jedi. If Filoni's new show is set in the ST era, it'll get even better as we'll have a steady stream of quality content instead of this current dripfeed of an aimless Poe ongoing and one or two novels a year.

As for the common acceptance, that's difficult to say and varies from place to place. Some communities have already embraced the sequel era and delved deep into analysis and theorycrafting. That's only going to get stronger as we'll get actual substantial material to discuss. Some places will remain PT or OT or EU strongholds, as they are now. The Star Wars fandom will never be united and fully embrace all aspects of the franchise as a whole.

As for this general, it might be very PT oriented now, but I'm willing to bet that there will be just as much enthusiasm for the sequel era as soon as Filoni gets to work and TFA becomes more of a distant memory. This is not a wishful thinking - it's just that people will naturally be more open to the era as more authors start building upon it and the ST content becomes more pletiful.

Except for the few autists oblivious to the sad truth that they've become the prequel equivalent of OT purists who they've fought for years.

Kennedy said just yesterday that they had a definite outline for the whole trilogy that they had to rewrite because of Carrie's passing and that IX will change significantly based on her absence. They have all this stuff planned out, but leave the directors breathing room to reach the designated end point however they want. It's not about making shit up as you go along, it's about creative freedom. And even that aside, Rian moved to SF and set up an office two doors away from Kiri Hart and had meetings with Story Group twice a week. This is no patchwork job.

Poe wasn't the member of the trio in TFA. The only reason he survived the crash on Jakku is because of Oscar Isaac. And he's still not going to be one of the protagonists, just more of a major supporting character like Lando. The real trio for this trilogy is Rey, Finn and Kylo.

The title was chosen before writing the script, but after Rian was briefed on where TFA's story leads and where's he supposed to go. It's not like he decided, "lol wouldn't it be cool to finish the Jedi off once and for all?"

You really think Phasma and Hux are going to be more than one note bad guys for Finn and the Resistance to fight? She's going to be just another Jango Fett and he's going to remain a Tarkin impersonator. Because that's all they need to be for this story.

Im a dungeon master / game master with a pair of my modules possibly getting published this year. I would say it is my greatest passion. I also play Fantasy Flight's Star Wars RPGs so i can merge the two from time to time, but as much as I love that game, it isnt perfect, so I homebrew it a good bit.

The gaps in there are narrower than the Death Star 2. That alone WAS enough to put her in the top percentage.

But that's not exactly the worst part given how fucking floaty Poe's flight choreography was where he can blow up 10 guys in 30 seconds while Luke and Wedge needed teamwork and a bunch of other guys for a half squadron of fighters.

To me the prequel era was fleshed out in TPM. It was visibly different from the OT and had locations that didn't look like anything we'd seen before. The rank and file Naboo troopers looked cool. The fighters were sleek but had enough effect details that you knew they were SW ships. The battle droids were a neat concept.

The ST era has none of that. It's generic troopers and TIE's against X-Wings. Even fucking Pablo refused to defend how every planet in TFA looked like an OT planet and being autistic over Star Wars and it's minutae is literally his fucking job.
