>for kids
This is pretty much what animals do in real life: hunt or be hunted
I feel really sad for kids who watched this shit...

I loved it as a kid. The whole killing thing didn't register as any more horrible than what happens in Bambi or whatever.

Same here. It was one of these shows who had balls to show death in realistic manner.None of that cute disney bullshit from the 90s
>>92662974

I wanted to fuck the snake.

I loved it when I was a kid, the deaths sure made an impression on me but they got me used to death. Couple years later a dog ran over by a car died in my lap and maybe without knowing animal death before I wouldn't cope with it. God speed little puppy.
>>92662974
>for kids
I watched this as a kid but I don't even remember the animals dying.
It was no big deal.

To be fair, there was lots of dark material in animation for children, especially during the 1980's. In fact it was most movies in general at the time, not just animation. There was less concern about age ratings back then, see. Even if you grew up only watching Disney, you definitely would've seen the deaths in Lion King, or perhaps the older and vastly superior Bambi. Besides, Watership Down, which is by far the most brutal, was aimed at kids.

The truth is that anyone can appreciate stories with tension and conflict, especially kids, and death only raises the stakes and keeps those stories interesting.
>>92663661
fucking emasculation.
our childrean are going to be weak defenseless pansies.

it's fucking brutal. A weird Romeo and Juliet story with lots of "racially" motivated killing
>>92664533
Were the people at Tatsunoko just really fucking depressed during that era?
>>92663661

Gotta protect the chillun from dem naughty cusses
>>92666494
>"Kids can't rip a man apart into bloody mush but they CAN cuss, so it's okay to show the former because they can't emulate it, but not okay to show the latter because then they'll be cussing all over."
Actual argument I've heard when dealing with physical violence versus cursing in kid's media. Nutters.
>>92666658
Wowzers! It makes sense!
>>92663137
Why? It was great.

>realize that you can't make good stories without showing the ugly things in life
Disney's Dinosaur was brutal. I remember seeing a dinosaur getting eaten alive.

Amazing, other people remember this series ? It is more deep and mature than many supposedly boundary pushing cartoons from recent years, like Korra or Steven Universe.

best part is, it actually solves all their problems.

Mr. Pheasant was a whiny faggot who cared only for himself
Even the other animals didn't like him or mourn his death
