This show is good nigga, it's not the greatest thing ever, I didn't really like the Kaiju episode for instance, but the Mister Madera episode and Teodora's story were pure motherfucking kino

I watched the Netflix show (three episodes of it) today. It's alright. The concept and environments are pretty cool. I just don't think the dialogue is on par with similar shows though; sometimes when the characters talk to each other, it seems like a string of comments rather than a conversation. In the 3rd episode, Teodora was the one who got Don Andres to "sleep" so he could help Leo, and was the one who figured out where Alebrije needed to look to get rid of the Mart's power source and save the day.

Well, it's not like there is much to explain, the one movie that was indeed heavy on Mexican references was La Nahuala, there were even some I didn't get myself, but they were toned down in La Llorona and I didn't find a single one in Las Momias, or maybe there were but they came in as natural for me since I live here so I didn't really noticed or payed attention to them

Well that may be the reason why I (and spaniards) like the movies a lot, the "language jokes" are Spanish.

But it also depends on the team that translated it. I remember on the first episode of Gravity Falls, Mabel said something like "I'm going to spill the beans, I'm going on a date!" And she throws down a can of beans.
What they did in the Spanish version was, "I'm going on a date, although that may be a can/tin for you!" Which means that it's something harsh, or a pain in the neck.
It's not the same meaning, but it's creative and makes sense.
