The Truth part five!
>>92658459
Sharp's art looks a million times better when not colored by Laura Martin.
>Every new issue storytime gets less and less replies
>It represents the ever lowering quality of the book.
Is this Amazonia pottery?
>>92658415
This the final Rucka issue?
>>92658524
Looks like it. Although I still don't understand how the whole ''Azz/Finch run was just a dream!'' works.
>>92658557
>>92658524
25 is Rucka's last issue
>>92658525
Now I'm picturing two scrawny emo dudes filling out that huge fuckoff Fist of the North Star bad guy armor, one standing on the other's shoulders.
>>92658620
GAAAAAAYYYYYY
>>92658632
A woman ravaging a tied up man with a giant strap on while his twin brother watched isn't gay, Anon.
Using the first one's cum as lube when she fucks the second one might be slightly gay.
Next:
>“Godwatch” epilogue! With Godwatch’s purpose fulfilled, Diana and Cale are forced to confront the choices of the past…and a new direction for the future.
Then:
>Writer Greg Rucka weaves together the threads of “The Lies,” “Year One,” “The Truth,” and “Godwatch”—every story in WONDER WOMAN since the start of the DC Universe Rebirth era—in this extra-sized anniversary issue!
Rucka's last issue.
>>92658673
I see the ghost of Dillon did a quick possession when the artist did those faces. Based Steve delivering from beyond.
I still think Azz Ares > Rucka Ares, but I really like this one as well
>>92658606
>>92658620
such a great scene
overall a great ending to a slow as fuck run, hope the next two issues don't fuck it
The end
>>92658687
Story seems wrapped up for the most part, guessing the next issue sets up the next stories for Cale and the rest of the villains and 25 will finally have WW vision the island somehow plus show Cheetah remain a villain.
>Love is the answer
this is literally what Azz did in his run. What the fucking fuck
So now Paradise Island and the amazons were created sorely to guard Ares.
Don't know how to feel about it, specially now that Ares is a good boy that doesn't want to escape or do bad.
>>92658673
Wasn't there a similar story to this about Circe's daughter being stuck on Themyscara with the Amazons.
God dammit Ruck stop recycling old shit.
Okay, okay. I hated Wondy's run so far, hated it.
But this was a good chapter.
>>92658415
so, uh..
are we going to talk about that giant uterus they're stroking on this cover or...?
>>92659136
>stop recycling old shit.
But... this is Rebirth...
>>92659032
Yeah it's kind of weird to not have Ares involved in the two world wars. He'd have loved that shit.
>>92659823
Or him as a recurring villain.
>Ares is a good God, he didndu nuffin'
Oh wow, yet another anti-climax from Rucka.
not gonna lie, I'm actually looking forward to shea fontana...
Wow this was actually almost worth the excruciating pace and weird reshuffling of classic characters. This felt like a real Wonder Woman issue. Maybe now we can get to Wonder Woman villains that aren't related to Greek gods?
>>92658550
>He's a Greek god, Isadore! Their track record with young women isn't exactly progressive.
This is why Snyder making the Amazons Zeus's creations/cheerleaders baffles me.
The pacing of this issue felt weird to me but I really enjoyed the themes. I think it'll read a lot better read all at once, like most of Rucka's stuff because of decompression.
Let's read the rest of this arc.
>>92658972
Azzarello backed it up with nothing. He just had Diana say "I love everyone" despite her character not reflecting that at all.
OTP
I like the contrast between man's world and Themyscira's lighting/colors, and how the tree has the same colors as man's world.
Texan waifu
Oh shit, I hadn't noticed this was Far Rockaway, where my grandfather grew up.
Love this page.
I hope someone else uses this Poison and makes her her usually bonkers self later
Ferdie!
This is such a great cover.
>>92661505
Nice try Perezfag. Can't wait for this shitty WW to be wiped away!
Castalia is bizarrely similar to a Byrne Amazon named Magala.
Magala was supposed to be that cavewoman who you always see getting killed at the start of Wonder Woman origins. Magala, being an early human, was pretty ugly so she isolated herself and devoted herself to the mystic and arcane arts as well as technology.
Byrne however missed the point that was repeated over and over that the cavewoman in those origin stories was reborn as Hippolyta.
I remember when /co/ loved Io.
This reminds me of that thread where someone shittily drew the "OK" hand gesture.
>>92661800
>this isn't Diana's obligatory transformation sequence
I never knew I wanted this until now
Great page.
Diana was made "goddess of truth" near the end of Byrne's run because he was out of ideas. This was undone in the first issue of the subsequent Eric Luke run.
>>92661919
They brought it back after Infinite Crisis!
It currently isn't used because Diana doesn't have a secret identity.
Ferdinand was another fan-favorite character from Rucka's first run, Diana's chef at the Themysciran embassy.
Cheeky.
I'm sad Legend of Wonder Woman was cancelled because it was probably gonna bring back the Priscilla Rich version of Cheetah, hopefully complete with monkey henchmen.
>ywn have a cuddly minotaur friend
Guy in the bottom left:
>lol wtf im high as shit
Diana such a cute
Such a cool Poison design wasted on not muh poison
AWWW
Sounds like my cats
So how did Rucka explain WW's continuity fuck up from the rebirth issue?
>>92661516
I want posters of her covers
Not sure why they renamed Cale-Anderson to Empire.
>>92662238
Which fuck up, exactly?
Also shipping Etta with Cheetah... kinda weird.
Imagine Azz's gods all chilling in chairs here.
>>92658584
That amazon looks awfully familiar...
>>92658581
Ares looks HnK as FUCK in this issue.
>punk-ass
Really
>>92658511
>Themyscira is paradise
>"Hey gurls! Let's kills our male babies! Yeah, dead babies make me hot!"
And before the complaints come in, no, Diana is not bulletproof and never officially has been. All her Who's Who entries and later the Secret Files all say so.
If you see bullets bouncing off Diana it's because the writer is a dumbo.
So I hope this part sticks in peoples' minds enough that they won't fuck that up anymore.
She's more durable than a normal person and has a slight healing factor.
But I will say this shot should have taken her out of commission a lot more than this.
She can take a lot more punishment;^)than a person but two high caliber bullets should have her basically immobile for a little while.
One thing Byrne introduced that literally nobody ever used again was that Themyscira could fucking time travel.
I like how Rucka really followed through with Diana solving most problems non-violently. The "I love you" thing in today's issue doesn't feel like an asspull because it's consistent with her characterization in the entire run.
That's something he didn't even do very well in his first run.
So Cheetah is a metaphor for furries?
>>92662664
He wasn't allowed to do it in first run because DC told him that for the preparation for Infinite Crisis all the DC would turn darker.
>>92662711
That's what I've assumed.
Greek mythology folks: does Ares actually have love for Aphrodite or does he just bang everyone like most gods?
And then that's where today's issue picks up.
i really liked this run
>>92658557
From what I can gather, New 52 Themyscira is a construct built by Hephaestus to act as an outer wall for Ares' prison
>>92662781
it's more of the Roman tradition (Venus and Mars, anyone?), in Greek it was mostly focused on making poor Hephaestus a cuck
>Though married to Hephaestus, Aphrodite had an affair with Ares, the god of war. Eventually, Hephaestus discovered Aphrodite’s affair through Helios, the all-seeing Sun, and planned a trap during one of their trysts. While Aphrodite and Ares lay together in bed, Hephaestus ensnared them in an unbreakable chain-link net so small as to be invisible and dragged them to Mount Olympus to shame them in front of the other gods for retribution.
>However, the gods laughed at the sight of these naked lovers, and Poseidon persuaded Hephaestus to free them in return for a guarantee that Ares would pay the adulterer's fine. Hephaestus states in The Odyssey that he would return Aphrodite to her father and demand back his bride price.
it was still their major relationship, he had the most kids with her (aside from this arc's duo, there were Eros, Anteros, Adrestia)
that doesn't mean they didn't fuck around
>>92663469
Eros is Ares' son?
>>92663971
Some would argue war and sex are intrinsically linked, anon
>>92664235
Careful now, or your risk validating the entire history of SM/WW and WW portrayal therein it.
>>92658662
Jesus, that rageface.
>>92659427
Yes and? Did Superman have a biological child with Lois that he raised to be a hero? Did Batman mentor two superpowered heroes and meet his Flashpoint Dad? Quit being a retard anon.
>>92664728
You're comparing entire arc concepts to a minuscule plot point.
>>92658429
What a grat cover wasted in this mediocre run.
>>92665420
How do you waste a cover?
>>92663971
It's... complicated, early Eros was one of the primordial gods, younger only than Chaos, Gaia, Tartarus (in Theogony) and sometimes Nyx and Erebus; Aristophanes wrote him as the son of the latter two (by 'son' I mean 'Nyx laid an egg in Erebus' tits'), only later was he turned into Ares' and Aphrodite's son as one of the latter's erotes (plural noun of eros... don't ask)
So...is she a Clay Baby or a Demigod?
>>92658673
Ares was such a bro at the end.
>>92665804
Clay baby.
Everything after she left Paradise Island is a lie made by the gods
>>92658620
>Diana on her knees
FAP FAP FAP
>>92665958
Is Cale's daughterCassie?
>>92658620
NOW RAPE THEM DIANA
>>92666017
No, her name is Izzy.
>>92658560
Gods are dicks
>>92658572
>Gods will not kill gods
>My sons are coming to kill me
???
>>92658473
Okay this is actually kind of an interesting twist with Ares.
>>92664728
>Did Superman have a biological child with Lois that he raised to be a hero?
You realize this is literally the only major new plot point to come from Rebirth, right?
>>92668753
I think so too
>>92667495
He's talking about Olympian Gods who apparently have some vague neutrality or detachment in regards to the mortal world. His sons are just dicks
>>92664592
it's warranted
>>92658687
I genuinely appreciated this ending, but fuck if this wasn't stretched out
>>92663209
I mean I like this idea but where are you getting this from? Was anything like that ever stated?
>>92658459
Oh hey Superman what are you doing here?
>>92658972
And it made damn sense in his run given how the First Born was pure hate and rage from his intro. Here, that "I love you" came out of no where.
>>92671398
yes, I understand Love conquering War and Fear, but Love cannot conquer Madness.
Ugh. I keep on sticking with Wonder Woman because she has always been my favorite superhero but this run and Finch's run have been horrible. The worst thing they did was take Azz version of the gods and made them into these animal Patrons. The gods had personalities once upon a time. Not just Ares. It makes zero sense for Athena and Artemis, basically the "good" gods to be animals while their own siblings, the "bad" gods are humanoid. Boring, dull animals.
Seriously, fuck those two runs. I hate that they just erased everything that Azz started rather than build from there. We could have still had a peaceful, love filled Wonder Woman with those humanoid gods. Why take Hera, with her great characterization and just take a leap back by making her nothing more than a stupid peacock? I want my boozy Hera back.
>>92658642
>>92658635
Wow, she really did rape them!
>>92658606
Wow, being dogs for 10-odd years really hit them with the ugly shovel.
>>92658673
:'(
Although Cale was a bitch and she deserved never getting her daughter back for all she did.
>>92658781
Until the next writer decides to do definitive Wonder Woman and fuck her all up again.
>>92659032
I liked it better when Paradise Island was there to protect an entrance to the Underworld.
>>92659136
A female master mind villain with a daughter growing up on Themyscira is literally one of the most quintessential Wonder Woman stories.
Even Marston did one with Baroness Von Gunther's daughter being imprissoned by the Nazis. It was the whole reason Von Gunther was a villain in the first place (even though she seemed to really enjoy turning women into Nazi slaves).
When Wonder Woman saved Gilda, Paula Von Gunther went on to live with her daughter on Restoration Island (Themyscira's reforation prison) and became one of the top scientists of themyscira.
>>92661505
Except it came out of nowhere here and the entire point of the Azz run was her constantly helping everyone who ever tried to kill her.
Except for the first born because fuck him.
>>92671734
They're not literally animals, they're just staying out of the conflict for the most part.
Gods took the form of animals all the time. It's a literary device here because their characters aren't important to the story, only their presence as gods.
And I'd bet a fair deal of it is Rucka avoiding having the gods actually appear in their human forms, in respect to one of the things Azzarello did fairly well. Let someone else decide whether the gods from his run were real or not.
>>92658415
Thanks OP.
Thanks.
