Damn these trailers have spoiled the entire movie.

I still don't like that Stark is pretty much babysitting Peter, there's no Daily Bugle, and most of Peter's tech is Stark. I feel like they're just going to kill Peter off for Miles eventually.

Haven't gotten around to seeing the films but It's genuinely amazing how much better the trailers for ASM1 look compared to this.
Campy tone can get fucked.
That series tried to do something intriguing & compelling like the past of Peter's parents & seemed to take things seriously. This has what? More god damn fucking hight school drama with ugly fucking bitches.
Never found Dunst attractive but Jesus she is looking good right now.
Fuck this. I say that as a fan of the Mcu.

I was never apart of the "FUCK ASM MOVIES" brigade. I didn't like ASM2, but I'll always admit that the costume was baller and the movie at least looked interesting, visually. Homecoming looks bland as fuck. I'm not interested in all the little gadgets IRON MAN has brought in (Spider-AI? Really?), I'm not interested in how big Iron Man's presence is period actually.
>>
>>92655917
the action scenes in both ASM movies were great too, I liked them for the most part
Homecoming just looks kinda dull compared to them though

Seriously though, this trailer was a huge step up from the previous ones. I really like how it seems like they nailed the Queens aspect, which is something the previous movies never really tried to do.

BULLSHIT

The real Spider-Man would use his web armpits or make a parachute out of webbing or something
>>

why web up a parachute if his suit comes with a parachute.
>>
>>92656972
Because he's Spider-Man and that's what he does, which is what is inherently wrong with MCU Spider-Man

Spider-Mans core, and most central appeal has always been being a self made loner hero who uses his own ingenuity to get out of tough spots, not a pet of the Avengers or more specifically, Tony Stark's kid sidekick

it literally makes no sense for stark to build a suit for peter when he already has super-durability when widow and hawkeye can be easily killed at any moment while avenging.

No. Now fuck off with this meme.
>>
I think what's bothering me about this film is that it's a filler story. It's all about Peter losing his suit only to get it back by the end of the film. They present nothing in this film as a must see moment.
>>
>>92659476
>only to get it back by the end of the film.

No. Its a basic hero story. Its Spider-Man discovering that he can be a hero even without all the fancy tech.

How do you know he isn't going to build his own fancy suit in the end, instead of having Stark just give him the suit back?

Would explain his suit change in future movies and instantly remove the whole "Stark supplies all of his tools" thing.
>>
>>92659529
Thing is, why would they tease the other functions of the suit that Tony blocked off?
>>
>>92659529
>Its Spider-Man discovering that he can be a hero even without all the fancy tech

Which is a filler story because Spider-Man never needed fancy tech to be a hero. This is some made up shit they did in Civil War and in this movie. It's like they're taking the DC route and making an entire movie to fix a problem that they created.
>>
>>92659643
It just underlines his development as coming-of-age. He's coming into his own. The MCU films really want to drive home the fact that he's a kid, and not a mature adult.

I get why people complain about Stark, but they kinda already hinted at Peter and Tony starting to not get along on some things. I still think the movie is going to end with Peter figuring out he doesn't need Tony, by beating Vulture with just the home made suit.
>>
This is actually the first Homecoming trailer I liked, really enjoy Holland as Peter.

>>
>>92659865
I think most action movies are pretty generic. I think Dr.Strange was the only one that was a bit different, but even still it was predictable.

I enjoyed seeing more of Holland's moments. Sitting on the train, doing small interactions with the people of New York, eating a sandwhich with his mask rolled up. That's some comfy shit. Just hope they handled the coming to age theme well and he makes his own suit, even if he keeps the lenses Tony gave him.

Also it's strange to see someone not butt hurt about Iron Man. I just hope he doesn't save the day at the end.
>>
>>92659767
The problem is that having nothing to do with the source material. Why even make the first spiderman movie in the MCU be about him figuring out he doesn't need Tony, like it was a major character arc for him?
>>
>>92656045
Where the hell is this from?
>>
>>92659914
Yeah those parts were my favorite too, actually brought a smile on my face. I hope there will be a lot of scenes like that.
>>
>>92659946
Well. At least, in my opinion, it makes sense. Peter grew up watching the Avengers on TV, long before he had powers. You don't think kids, especially nerds like Peter, fanboy over heroes? Especially Ironman, who uses only his intellect and is able to compete with the rest. Iron Man is probably a huge inspiration to Peter, why wouldn't he, when suddenly giving powers, not accept a mentor like Iron Man? Peter wasn't very self-confident in some areas during the start of his superhero days, I don't see why it's that crazy why he would seek affirmation from a father like figure, like uncle Ben or Tony.
>>
>>92656988
This is what bothers me about this movie. It feels more like Miles Morales wearing Peter's face.
>>
>>92659946
>source material
Have you ever even read the source material? Sure doesn't seem like it.

>spiderman
Whelp. That seals the deal right there. Can safely disregard anything you have to say.

the one peter idolized before getting powers, is overly-eager to work with after getting powers, gets given the cold sholder repeatedly, resents because he's not taking him seriously enough, gets over himself, sticks to going solo but still has the occasional team-up

>Peter's suit has an A.I voice in it
>it also has Iron man vision

Who thought these were good ideas? I dot care if stark made it. Whats the point of having Spider Sense when you've got iron man vision and an A.I in your ear. And really, "training wheels" or whatever? Is Peter going to jailbreak his suit and get even more powerful.

I dont fucking like the direction they're going with his powers in this one.
>>
>>92655678
So the movie will end with Peter telling Tony to keep the suit, right? Or like get a replica with the same design but none of the fancy shit? I don't see Pete wearing his homemade costume in future films, so he'll either make a new suit that looks like the one tony gave him or Tony will give him like a prototype or some shit.
>>
>>92665480
Peter was able to make the eyes by himself and the webshooters so I don't think a new suit is out of the question. If Tony is going to be involved at all, being Peter's supply of money would be the only thing I'd be okay with.
>>
What did the latina girl say after asking what peter was hiding?
Fucking mumbling. Must get out of here?
>>
>>92665452
The Training Wheels bit is good. It really shows Tony's mentality towards Peter, that Peter needs to be reared and looked after and monitored. The AI is part of that, micromanagement at best and straight up spyware at worst. See how the AI tells Peter about web tactics and automatically engages the parachute when Vulture drags Peter high up above the city. Literally training wheels.

They didn't make these choices with intention of being cool and unique with Peter's equipment, they made them to build up something called a "story". And the story here is Peter breaking free of the training wheels and proving he's a hero that can stand on his own.

>Is Peter going to jailbreak his suit and get even more powerful.
The opposite. Peter loses the suit in the movie and goes to face Vulture without it.

I agree with the idea that the movie will do well, but Marvel is just tossing Iron Man into the movie in part because they serously want to open a SM part of the movie universe, rightfully so.

It would have been great to see some SM & F4 movie references, easter eggs and comic references but Fox won't give up the movie rights. So we have Tony as a mentor, which in and of itself is a bit odd.

Only to set up a betrayal which caused Spider-Man to never trust the douche again, thus reassuring Peter's belief of being a loner. Which they're clearly not going to do because they want them to be buddy buddy for Infinity War.

And those people don't actually know shit about any incarnation of Spider-Man aside from what the movies told him. >>
>>92666903

>>
>>92666943
>Want me to tell you how I know you've never actually read a comic?
Yes. Are you going to tell me that Peter doesn't admire heroes?

>Which was only set up for a back stab.
A softer version of which will be happening in the movie, when Tony takes the suit away from Peter for not being a good little boy and doing what he's told. And in the other lines it wasn't just a set up for a back stab.
>>
>>92666940
Doesn't change the fact that it's precedent and source material and happened outside of Civil War as well.
>>
>>92666982

>A softer version of which will be happening in the movie

Then there's no fucking point for it. Making you saying "it happened in 616" a moot point. Because in the comics it was

A) Super fucking brief

and

B) Only served as a way to completely demolish their relationship.

Also, Stark's relationship with Peter then wasn't even mentor student. It was more like employer and employee.

I personally like the way they're going with this, having it be about an obviously younger Peter coming into his own as a hero in a world full of heroes. Would you rather they just rehash the same plot the earlier movie franchises did? Origin, creation of villain, relationship angst, resolution? And movies hardly ever stay wholly true to their comic book counterparts. Frankly I'm surprised they're taking so many cues from Civil War.

He wasn't trying to impress them and he certainly wasn't sucking up to them like a little bitch. He needed money so he broke into their home and beat the shit out of them. Then when they told him they had no money he stormed out. His goal wasn't to impress him, his goal was to get paid.

>So how would you do this movie?

If highschool: origin off screen and straight up adapt the Ditko era highschool years.

If not: start it off in college and acknowledge he's been Spider-Man for quite some time now.

It does when you end up with beta Peter.

But what am I even arguing this for? It's obvious the only knowledge you have from the character is the movies and some Tumblr blogs.

Nah, explicitly tell me what you want to see. What plots from the comics and how you would fit them into the MCU. It's easy to just say something without thinking it out.

Aside from the obvious ones, like his highschool supporting cast, they've taken elements from Civil War. The Iron Spider, Peter having an "internship" at Stark International, him chafing under Tony, etc. How you can accuse anyone of not having knowledge of the comics is beyond me.

Then he's not trying to impress them, is he? He's trying to get money.

> and how you would fit them into the MCU.

Fuck the larger universe. Just do a name drop or a quick five second cameo. Focus on making a self contained story.

>Nah, explicitly tell me what you want to see. What plots from the comics

Aunt May getting deathly ill and Peter struggling to support his dying Aunt while being a super hero at the same time. And having to struggle with whether or not it would be responsible to turn to a life of crime to support her. Top it all off with an If This Be My Destiny adaptation and do his iconic monologue word for word. That's pretty much all there was to the highschool years, which is why people complain about highschool Peter so much.

> they've taken elements from Civil War. The Iron Spider, Peter having an "internship" at Stark International, him chafing under Tony, etc. How you can accuse anyone of not having knowledge of the comics is beyond me.

A lot of the movies do this, and they get flack for it.

>Aunt May getting deathly ill and Peter struggling to support his dying Aunt while being a super hero at the same time.
This all sounds very dull on the surface. Dying Aunt May stories have never been very exciting, and Peter conflicting with Spider-Man, while a big part of his character in a lot of stories, has been done to death.

>We've been over this, if they're not going to utterly destroy his trust in Tony Stark then there's no point. Also, that was one year out of his entire history /and/ he was well into his adult years.

It's like explaining logic to a toddler. The end goal was to get money, him impressing them was a means to reach this goal. Therefore, the goal was to get money, not impress them. Impressing them is simply a way can get money.

>A lot of the movies do this, and they get flack for it.

Name one.

>This all sounds very dull on the surface. Dying Aunt May stories have never been very exciting, and Peter conflicting with Spider-Man, while a big part of his character in a lot of stories, has been done to death.

One, it's never been on the big screen and two, are you implying the Ditko era was boring?

>Not seeing your point here. So they can't use material from the comics for their coming of age story just because it doesn't line up perfectly? That's retarded.

One year out of the characters /55 years/ history. The entire point of the arch was to destroy Peter's relationship with Stark. If you're not destroying that relationship, then you're basing your entire adaption of the character off of one year out of their entire fifty five years.
>>

>>

>but this is definitely a "Tumblr fanart" take of the character.
To be honest, when everyone complained "The Raimi Spider-Man's aren't Spider-Man because he doesn't joke", I get annoyed. Spider-Man quips, yes, but he's not really funny. He comes off more like some little brother trying to get a big laugh from people all the time. And the problem is, people now made that the core part of Spider-Man's character.

And beyond that, this Spider-Man goes a step further in the wrong direction. Dad Stark, good boy Peter.
>>
>>92669000
>It's like explaining logic to a toddler
My sentiments exactly. Despite money being the end goal, he still wanted to impress them to achieve that. Just like he wants to impress Tony so that he is taken seriously as a hero.

>Name one.
Thor 2, Iron Man 3, Winter Soldier. Big national, if not global, scale stuff happening here and the other heroes don't show up at all. You're basically asking them to just handwave Tony letting an arm dealing supervillain shitting in his own backyard.

>are you implying the Ditko era was boring?
The way you pitched it was dull, and dying Aunt May stories don't swat me much anymore.

>then you're basing your entire adaption of the character off of one year out of their entire fifty five years.
Not the entire adaptation of the character, retard, just his relation to the Avengers. He was introduced in Civil War, so big surprise, they took some cues from the Civil War comic story for their own ends. This isn't complicated.
>>
>>92668718

>>
>>92669252
>My sentiments exactly. Despite money being the end goal, he still wanted to impress them to achieve that. Just like he wants to impress Tony so that he is taken seriously as a hero.

No, not at all. He didn't /want/ to impress the Fantastic Four. He /needed/ to in order for him to get money. Which is what he wanted. Do you have autism or something? This isn't that hard of a concept to get.

>Thor 2, Iron Man 3

slammed for reasons other than its connection to the larger universe.

>Winter Soldier

Not slammed at all.

>The way you pitched it was dull, and dying Aunt May stories don't swat me much anymore.

Everything sounds dull when you're giving a basic pitch of it. Harry Potters becomes "a kid who goes to a school for magic" and Star Wars turns into "A farm boy travels the galaxy".

>Not the entire adaptation of the character, retard, just his relation to the Avengers.

That's what this entire fucking movie is about, so I'd beg to differ. Also, it impacts him in other ways other than that, since he has the fucking Tony Stark suit. And throughout the entirety of all the trailers he's acting like a spergy try hard (which he didn't act like in Civil War, before you claim he did).
>>

I really, REALLY want to be excited for Homecoming, but going by the trailers it has almost nothing I like about this character in it. Or at least there won't be until the final act, which my or may not get reversed if that shot with Spider-Man and Iron Man flying into the camera is the final shot of the movie. I'm hoping it'll prove me wrong, though.

Also why is Ganke even in this movie? Did we really need Pete to have some stupid fat fuck friend who knows his secret?

We see in Civil War that he's already a hero who is relatively taken seriously. So this can't be the goal.

Also, Peter's /never/ given a fuck about being taken seriously.
>>
>>92670327
>he's already a hero who is relatively taken seriously.

But that's wrong. He's an urban legend dealing with petty street crime.

The whole point is that Peter feels he's not making a difference handling purse-snatchers while the Avengers are out saving the world, and slowly realizes the value of being a friendly neighborhood street-level hero looking after the little guy.

He's actually closer to an urban legend, with the best proof of his existence being some shotty YouTube footage, and none of the Avengers aside from Tony have any clue who he is.

>Also, Peter's /never/ given a fuck about being taken seriously.
Wow, it's almost like, it's a movie and- yeah, you know where I'm going with that. And Peter HAS actually given a number of fucks about being taken seriously in the comics before, with the bad press from the Daily Bugle being one of his most well-known struggles. Most recently this was shown in the Spidey comic.
>>
>>92670481
>with the bad press from the Daily Bugle being one of his most well-known struggles.

So? They still kept people from taking him seriously as a hero, which bugged him. In a number of comics and cartoons, not just the 616.

I would have done adult spiderman at least two to three years into his career. Completely skip high school, maybe graduating college soon or out and moving in with Harry or MJ.

I would have had several little easter eggs and daily bugle news stories mentioning him so he's not a surprise to anyone.

Plot wise I would have written a new story, nothing based on a previous story and something high stake enough to stand on its own and use a few classics villains to set up.

Or if I had to base it on a comic, I'd do the story of Tombstone and his torment of Robbie Robinson , one of my favs.
