Mexico is an interesting case.
Back in the day, you had a ton of content made for children, and comic books ranging from capeshit to Disney reprints, westerns, hardcore horror and even straight up porn reportedly sold over 350,000 issues every week (Yes, comics were weekly, with artists churning out over 20 pages in less than four days).
Then the price of paper went up, mexican comics died and wannabe manga took over what was left. There was also this weird mindset that all cartoons were for kids, and thus had to be as harmless as possible.

There has been a few attempts at doing something bigger, like El Santo vs. the Monsters cartoon, a parody known as El Santos, Magos y Gigantes, the Huevocartoon movies and some other things that shouldn't be mentioned.
It's kind of baffling to see how something that went unnoticed, like Las Leyendas, ended up being the most popular mexican cartoon to date.

I guess this drives home that shipping is 100% just about character deigns and nothing to do with personalities, writing, or relationship. It's some 60 sec shorts, the characters have very few lines, they barely interact with each other or do anything, how are the ships "patrician" or "garbage"? They're just neutral. I mean at least crack crossover shipping has actual characters and personalities to extrapolate from.

I mean if people were just having fun with the wacky character designs but "shipping wars" over barely there characters in a couple super short shorts? What the fuck?
