Definitely there's kind of a self-insert aspect going on with the creator of the show playing the main character's biggest fan, but by now neither Star or StarFan13 are Daron. Like the traits of the original Star were kind of split between the two for the final show

This is going to play during a really sad moment where Star's looking out of her balcony or some shit.

I really can't even contain my hype levels for next season. The move to Mewni is going to change everything for the better. Star's going to have to ACT like a princess again and its going to make me fall in love with her even more. Can't wait to see how she acts around the castle now that she's back and has the chance to stew on all those times. Star has changed so much since she was last on Mewni. We'll get to see her room, the castle guards, all types of shit. Marco's already used some dark magic at the cost of his sanity after reading Star's book. Humans might not be very good at magic, but presumably they are capable of at least reciting rituals or making Faustian deals. Monsters don't seem like they have much innate magic either, instead relying on brute force in combat, but Ludo was able to use the wand and learn some basic magic with practice.

Star's incessant interest in Earth magic implies that she hasn't assumed that humans are just inherently nonmagical, and she's possibly curious about learning and harnessing that magic for herself. That could mean that magic is something that could be learned and that it's possible the only reason Earth doesn't use magic is because no one knows how.

So yeah, I think it's possible Marco could learn to do some simple spells by himself before the end of the series.
