I could see Ahsoka getting the next ongoing within a year depending on how the expansion to 4 ongoings works out. If we compare the numbers that Poe and Aphra are putting up relative to Kanan (The only canceled ongoing) I get the distinct feeling that we probably won't be seeing one or possibly both of them in year's time. As of issue 6 Aphra is selling around 5k under what issue 6 of Kanan sold (~40k vs ~45k) and 10k under Poe's issue 6 (~50k), while issue 12 of Poe only outsold Kanan 12 by 2k (~38k vs ~36k). If Screaming Citadel or TLJ don't boost the numbers of their relevant titles, I could easily see a cancellation or two and an opening for an Ahsoka ongoing.

There's also the possibility of her getting a miniseries, although given that we're getting two force user minis in a row with Maul and Windu, I'd reckon that she's at least second in line.

Either way, with Rebels concluding in a year I think that they'll definitely want to do something to appease animation fans and an Ahsoka title feels like the more obvious solutions.

His character arc so far reminds me of the antagonist from The Raid 2, down to killing his own father over a desire to become more powerful and immediately regretting it. It makes me wonder if the actors of those films threw out any ideas beyond choreography and their cameos in TFA.

If that's any indication of Kylo's trajectory, he'll kill Snoke and his constituents at the last second and will probably try to kill Rey on his own terms despite having some perverted admiration for her. Rey will kill Kylo, but comfort him in his last moments.

Am I the only one who just doesn't care about all these The Last Jedi announcements?

It's funny because I really like everything else Disney has been doing with the franchise so far. Although I loved a lot of things about the old EU, it truly was quite a mess overall, so purging it all and starting anew was a good thing, in my mind. The new canon is a lot more neat and coherent. The few comics and books I've read from it so far are really good. I enjoy TCW and Rebels a lot. Rogue One was fucking amazing, and I eagerly await for any news on the Han Solo movie and further spin-offs.

But when it comes down to the sequel trilogy and everything to do with it, I just don't care. TFA sort of ruined the post-RoTJ galaxy for me, so I simply try not to think about anything that happens there.

I will still see all these things when I check out the movie, but I'm not enthusiastic about it at all.

Actors tend to do better on sets, especially if one or more of the 'actors' isn't actually on the set. This doesn't apply to the hallway scene, but it's really obvious with the Grievous/Obi-Wan confrontation in the hangar.

Forgot to add. Something that really just fucks with me is you expect Star Wars Episode 7 to have Luke and the New Republic hanging out on Coruscant in the Jedi Temple from the prequels and Leia giving speeches in the Senate room similar to the scenes from the prequels but it never happens. I like it when media sort of fucks with your expectations (Twin Peaks Season 3 is doing a great job of this) but I feel this really wasn't needed in this case and was solely because JJ and Peg were whiny little faggots who didn't want to let Coruscant appear in their Star Wars movie. It just comes off as really petty and shitty since it ruins a huge portion of the lore so much that I have considered abandoning nucanon altogether and going back to the EU as my headcanon.

It reminds me of MGSV where you expect to play as Big Boss as he becomes a child soldier using warlord in Mozambique and founds Outer Heaven only to realize that you're playing as some random jack off in some PMC called Diamond Dogs and he's actually a really nice guy who saves children and helps innocent villages.

Those elements that made it - Utapau and Bad Batch as story reels, Ventress' arc and the Siege of Mandalore in novels, Darth Maul's escape in the comic - are obviously canon.

The story group literally considers them canon. The wook doesn't consider them canon but they aren't official. The official creators of Star Wars have said that they make new content in the mindset that all the unfinished TCW arcs are canon. Also the canon Vong don't have the anti-force shit so they're just a bunch of weird evil guys with organic ships (which we've already seen in some fashion in the Vader comic) from another galaxy. They contradict absolutely nothing and the bad stuff people hated about them isn't canon.

No they are canon. During the Clone Wars a Vong scout ship came from the Unknown Regions to study the Republic. Anakin Skywalker was sent to study it. This happened just like Cad Bane training Boba Fett and the Bad Batch helping the Wookiees on Kashyyk happened. It doesn't matter if it's referenced in something else (in fact it likely has since Thrawn mentions Anakin going near the Unknown Regions during the war and some threat related to the Chiss which was the role of the Vong in the EU) what matters is it was a never produced arc for The Clone Wars featuring material that contradicts absolutely nothing in canon which makes it canon. Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo explicitly said this a few years back at their TCW panel for Celebration.

Either way, I doubt we're going to get the Vong anytime soon, and when/if they do turn up I all but guarantee you they'll be quite different from how they were in old canon. Suitably powered down hopefully, because the idea of extra galactic invaders with a fetish for pain and bioengineering is cool (ten billion Tyranids can't be all wrong after all), but world ships and a complete immunity to the Force is bullshit. World ships always felt like a pretty damn disgusting attempt to somehow justify Palpatine's sick obsession with world ending weaponry, and complete immunity is way too strong, I'd prefer "very hard to affect mentally, and strong enough to make telekinesis etc difficult"

Yeah, this.

It's amazing to watch how in Rebels it grows from just Kanan following Hera around in A New Dawn, to a small band helping people around and causing minor trouble for the Empire, to them being a part of a bigger movement opposing the Empire, and then to a full-on Rebel Alliance in Rogue One and further on in the OT, culminating in the destruction of the Emperor. And as the stakes and scales grow, so do the themes of hope and unity and "yeah, it wasn't exactly a paradise before the Empire, but at least people weren't oppressed" and "there were 10,000 Jedi protecting the galaxy, now it's just us, but we shouldn't give up hope" - and it's all kind of heartwarming, like you know every little thing they do is a tiny but sure step towards bringing peace and freedom to the galaxy.

And then all this is almost rendered pointless, because the New Republic, while not expected to be ideal, of course, doesn't do shit to bring peace and freedom and instead allows a new "Empire" to grow under its nose, whereas the Jedi are as non-existent as they were after Order 66. Many of the heroes who helped defeat the Empire probably later pointlessly perished in the destruction of the New Republic's capital system, because FO somehow had the time and resources to build an even deadlier "Death Star", with only a small group, the Resistance, actually doing shit to oppose them. What was the Alliance even fighting for, then?

The First Order was hanging out in the Unknown Regions. Imagine, if you will, that we lived in a world where, for whatever reason, the Americas had never really been explored. That's what the Unknown Regions are, Terra Incognita on a quite literally galactic scale. Even if you believed the vague and contradictory rumours of an Imperial Remnant rebuilding out there, how could you even begin to find it? How could you even begin to convince an entire galaxy, so recently burned horrifically by the scars of decade long internal strife, to begin building fleets and armies again to fight what may as well be a shadow cast on the wall?
And it did bring peace, and freedom. Planets were allowed to leave the New Republic and remain allies, a privilege never granted under the Old Republic. Where once the entire Senate was united in its complete apathy and lack of interest in affairs like the Naboo incident, now the floor is divided by debate and posturing so passionate the divide cannot be bridged between the two opposing viewpoints. Where once order was nominally the preserve of the Imperial Fleet, now the New Republic monitors the space lanes while leaving planetary systems to look to their own defense, free of the fear of ships that are not their own hanging over their homes
The New Republic was not perfect, but we cannot let the fact that we've seen how it all ended up effect how we look at it.

The problem I have with that entire pic is that it looks like something you would find in a high society-esque casino nowadays. If it weren't for the aliens, I wouldn't even know it was taken from a Star Wars movie set. This familiarity in combination with some aliens thrown in is exactly what Doctor Who scenes are all about. I was expecting something that fits the Star Wars universe.
Take any scene from the PT era or even any scene from Cloud City in ESB where you can see civilian clothing and you'll see what I mean. They all have this familiar, yet exotic style.
Something similar happened in Maz Kanta's castle in TFA. When Rey reaches the room in the basement, she finds this medieval-esque looking box that contained Anakin's lightsaber. It doesn't seem special, but it really didn't look like something out of Star Wars. Seeing lazy designs like this is what breaks the immersion for me. It doesn't have to look like some PT or OT 2.0 design, but they should at least try to make something interesting looking. Well, it seems they are in some parts judging from >>92658954.

And for what its worth, I'm one of the "TFA was worse-off for having no recognizable aliens" people, and I think the aliens they've shown off for TLJ, at the very least, are much more interesting than the ones in TFA. They feel more unique, as opposed to the "Not OT alien, but close enough" thing that TFA did.

Well like I said, I'm in the "include more established aliens" side of things, because it's silly that only humans are portrayed as widespread across the Galaxy.

TCW/PT had Rodians and Twi'leks all over the place, but the ST has only had established OT alien characters return (Nien, Chewie), and nothing else.

But at the same time, those new aliens for TLJ look great, nothing to complain about with them.

Honestly, I'm kind of glad they're shying away from old aliens. Mostly because it lets creature designers do more creative stuff than literally recreate the same designs from 40 years ago, but partially because its the one thing TFA did to break away from the OT
