All these changes do is undermine classic, beloved characters for no reason. No one wants thor to be a woman, no one wants captain america to be black, people want thor to be THOR, they want captain america to be captain america.

No one wants a NEW captain america, they want new stories with captain america, they want to see interesting and fantastically written adventures of a classic character being explored in a new way. If you just replace the character with a forced diversity meme version of the character, all you've done is replaced coca cola with 'new coke', something nobody asked for and nobody wanted. All the forced diversity comics sell like shit because all you're doing is taking away what people want while trying to sell them something they have no interest in.

You want more black characters, brown characters, gay, trans etc. just make some fucking new ones. Actually write stories that go beyond just patting yourself on the back for writing a 'diverse' character, actually make something that's fucking good and worth reading.

As a tranny, if I hear that a comic has a trans character or theme in it the first thing I usually do is groan because of how lame and stupid and forced I know it's going to be.

I'm not that anon, but it's actually not that obvious. Whenever we do ever see Deadpool in a relationship, it's generally with one of three females: Death, Domino, or anybody else. Romantic issues haven't generally been Deadpool's bag of tea.

When the news hit /co/, most of us were pretty sure that it was the same kind of pandering that you described in your post. The difference here, at least from my point of view, is that because of the lack of relationship/romantic drama in Deadpool comics, it doesn't actually matter what his sexual preference is in the end, as whatever story he's embroiled in doesn't actually involve his preferences.

The humor is bland to a fault (and keeps dumbing down/becoming "safer". like with JJ retiring the angry bird, one of the few bits that still got an honest laugh out of me), the plot non existent, and the art simple to the point of ugliness. with almost no improvement over the last half decade (after having JJ improve quite a bit in the early years). These are the reasons /co/ doesnt like it.

The fact that JJ makes a fortune out of it (and still feels the need to occasionally whine about the "indie" lifestyle, ask for a second income via patreon, and ask for even more money for his ego music projects or publishing the books instead of investing his already large assets) is the reason we hate it.

Not that anyone actually cares, but I don't hate QC. I definitely think JJ's put less effort into the comic than he used to, and the ending of the Bubbles subplot was pretty lazy, but he's never been hateworthy. QC's never been particularly good or particularly bad for me. It's just middle-of-the-road. And I'm fine with that.

The fact is that there's a market for stuff that's just okay. Some people don't need superb quality in their media; they just want something digestible that they can read on the phone on their way to work. Every media category has them: generic action blockbusters, cheap licensed videogames, daytime television. Yes, it's not fair that JJ's making more than, say, Tom Siddell or whoever your pet webcomic writer is, but that's just how humans are. On the whole, we prefer easy media that's already popular and only a fraction of our time is spent on searching for new stuff or experiencing stuff that really speaks to us on a personal level.

So yeah, QC's not the best, but it's not rageworthy like /co/ thinks it is. Maybe try raging at Aaron Diaz or Dave Willis for a while.

There's just no point or soul behind any of it. It's the webcomic equivalent of a soap opera. Just characters going around having drama and when it gets old, new characters are brought in. Art is shit, too much same face, boring and stiff poses. Outside of the whole tranny thing (which I am only aware of because of /co/) I know nothing of these characters just by looking at them. I don't know what drives them or what makes them good characters. They are bland and pointless just by looking at them.
