Finally, I'm here for another JSA Storytime.

The last one I caught was almost a month ago; then, after a few days of steady level 10 pain, I caught the ambulance express for a week in-hospital.

Then, since getting out, I've been in Moving limbo, with the electricity cut off at the old place the day before I was released, moving carloads of shit every day until just last friday (because nobody else could/would), and not managing to get an installer for my new place's internet/tv/phone service until then as well.

So...it's been a hell of a month. I'm really happy to be here for one of your threads again.

Anyone else getting a bit tired of all the scattered LoSH cameos? Now they've even appeared in Injustice 2 of all things, and it's like, just do something with them already or shut the fuck up, cause the teasing is just getting tedious now.

>>
>>92646684
I feel that way about the overall Rebirth plan in general, they really didn't have enough meat to pad out this middle part so we're just getting extended teases of stuff we already know is coming

I was happy to see Jay for a couple pages but it's annoying we still have to wait for something substantial, same with the LOSH hints and cameos
>>
>>92646972
/co/ you are amazing and weird and I sometimes think of you when I am not here
>>
>>92646972
desu new 52 WW is okay but the worst part about it is the people who think it's the best run ever

It would've been bomb as an elseworld tho
>>
>>92647030
>>
>>92647080
>>
>>92646684
Yes and no.

Especially with Injustice.
Really don't want them to ruin LOSH there because elseworld and so Harley can save the day.

But more LOSH is good and I want it now.
>>
>>92647062
Honestly I gave up on it early on when it was coming out and never went back to it, last issue I remember getting was the #0. Same thing happened to me with new 52 Flash though so I might have just gotten tired of reading for the art all around.
>>
>>92647128
>>
>>92646972
AzzWondy isn't awful, but FinchWondy definitely is, so if he's planning to run that as well...
>>
>>92647157
Same
I ended up tradewaiting after the first arc mostly cause it was taking so long and it was the art I liked most

I did the same with Flash and Batwoman

Okay story and decompressed af, but god, some of the best art of new 52

Allred's style fits the story incredibly well, it's amazing
>>
>>92647011
Rebirth has been a refreshing return to heroes being heroes and telling new stories, but the main through line is just kinda dragging its heels. The JSA, the Legion, whatever's up with the Titans, the Flashpoint universe still being around, Dr. Manhattan... Can we just get on with it already?
>>
>>92647242
He probably is. He ran Odyssey and that AnimeWonder Woman thing already
>>
>>92647351
Speaking of Allred, Silver Surfer seems to be dead so I really hope it's not relaunched with him on it.
>>
>>92647399

>>
>>92647374
Rebirth had a remit, Generations/Legacy/whatever just seems so bleh, "the same people on the same things"
>>

>>
>>92647491
>Generations/Legacy/whatever just seems so bleh, "the same people on the same things"
Plus time travel!
>>
>>92647491
Rebirth as a lot of repeats too but at least there was all the talk about creative direction and shit that made us feel like they knew what the fuck they were doing
>>
>>92645469
Hey, coming in late.

Finally managed to see GoTG 2 on the weekend and enjoyed it a lot. They really did a good job digitally recreating Kurt Russell c. 1980.
>>
>>92647491
Seriously
I'd be more interested in Legacy if they actually changed some of the creative teams

But it seems like everybody is on the same thing as before

On the other hand, I am impressed how Marvel is giving a lot of their characters 18+ issues of the same writer
Yanks them around a lot less and makes it more consistent, even if it's mediocre to crap consistency
>>
>>92647531
A friend has been reading FabNic's Nomad series from the 90s, and is a little O___o at the degree to which Bru's revival of Bucky cribs things off of it (and then kills Jack and stuffs him into a car trunk)
>>
>>92645842
You mean good weird, right? Because it was good right up until Claremont got it and immediately shit the bed.
>>
>>92647133
>Really don't want them to ruin LOSH there because elseworld and so Harley can save the day.
Oh I'm definitely with you there. The Legion and edgy do not mix.

On the other hand, Brainy is the only character who actually did something useful in that whole retarded mess, and the Founders didn't even seem all that mad about it, so I'd say they came out on top. Long live.

Understatement. They're fucking one shots and considering there's also a reprint in each that means there aren't a lot of pages of content so DC could've went out and got some REAL talent on them...
>>
>>92645720
Is this before Alex got back from Mutant X? because #3 there is a pretty decent look for him.

I heard some people say that they think the Brainy cameo was just a way to explain why Brainiac would fight himself.
>>

Yeah, that's the kind of series this is.
>>
>>92647157
I gave up on it when New Gods were introduced because I didn't like how they redesigned them and characterized them and up until then it was just okay. still better than rucka's shit though
>>
>>92647759
I empathize with this methodology

>>92647794
anyone remember MUTANT X the TV show??
>>
>>92647636
Good weird, yes. It's nice to see a superhero comic that doesn't seem ashamed to be a superhero comic.

Superheroes are an inherently absurd concept, and it's pretty obnoxious to see people trying to erase or apologize for the crazy shit, even though said crazy shit is part of the appeal.

And some series suffer from this attitude more than others. *coughWonderWomancough*
>>
>>92647712

yes, considering DC has 2.99 comics and marvel doesn't.

They do. Most of their books are at $3.99, compared to DC's $2.99 bi-weekly books. That $1 means quite a lot when they are putting out a lot of books.
They are also trying to get people to spend $3.99 bi-weekly with their x-men book.

True Amazon felt closer to a Greek myth origin to me although I suppose it's not, really, it's just willing to let flaw(s) hang there and define character in a way beyond SNAPS NECKS. It's vaguely similar to what Hercules' childhood was supposed to be, or Bellerophon, and probably other heroes.

It's also kinda interesting in how it subverts the typical dual paternity/divine father thing: Zeus' adultery is actively prevented; Diana is the child of the compassion of all the gods.

There's an unfortunate lack of focus on Diana's childhood throughout her entire post-Crisis history, which is a shame because I think there's a lot of potential there. She lived as the only child on an island of adults for 22 years.

Johns' reuse of that imagery of her looking out at the sea is cliche but it at least does acknowledge Diana having a history and character before she left the island.

I don't know if it's intentional but in the Silver Age, Diana as a little girl was definitely a bit of a little shit, so True Amazon capturing some of that is what made it interesting to me.

Eh, his worst X-Men was still only mediocre compared to the never ending cavalcade of shit we have now.
