"post-Crisis" refers to a large chunk of continuity beginning with Crisis on Infinite Earths and ending with Flashpoint.

The new 52 introduced its own Superman often referred to as Superbro. Superbro died. Convergence revealed the existence of post-Crisis, pre-Flashpoint Superman ("Superdad") in a parallel dimension.

Rebirth Superman is a fusion of Superbro and Superdad.

Now that the dust has settled, why did the nu52 continuity fail? It changed about as much as the post-Crisis continuity did (Man of Steel is so radically different) but it failed to stick. Was it just because the only people who still buy Big Two stuff actually like all that continuity porn?

Rebirth is supposed to be an allegory of sort as to why nu52 failed. As well as movies like Man Of Steel.

DC (and by extension, WB) went and made the mistake of having the superhero genre be TOO serious (e.g., hardcore)

This is just Johns using his power to restore Supermans history, Wallys, his titan relationships, reverse flash history with Barry, death-strokes hate for the titans and his old costume.
Revived elements and characters, some costumes reverted.

Batman is hinted to have the blue costume and trunks in a dc previews image for rebirth.

That no trunk costume replaces the one he wore from 00 to up.

Not everything is going to revert back. I doubt cry for justice and identity crisis and every other crisis will be back in. Makes the universe less edgy as pre flashpoint.

I don't make the rules. But Jurgens mxy story overrides nu 52. He basically states he hasn't been in the main universe for a long time.

Mxy last time meetimg Superman was in his pre flashpoint self. So that contradicts Morrisons work.

Unless there's another Mxy or Nu-52 mxy is a copy.

A lot of Manhattan's influence has been changing and mucking up stuff, but RF and preventing Kyle from resurrecting the Blue Lanterns by turning him back into a Green Lantern in his OG costume is going back to status quo.
