DARK NIGHTS: METAL #1

“I’ve been planning METAL for as long as I’ve been writing Batman, but I want METAL to be built upon the stories happening now in Rebirth. Most of all we want to create new material that feels really modern and different. And above all, it’s going to be fun. Even with terror and nightmares, it won’t be grim. DARK NIGHTS: METAL will be celebratory, huge and crazy.” — SCOTT SNYDER

“I’m looking forward to rock’n and roll’n together again. Fans have been loud and clear; they want more from us. We’re primed and ready to blow it up.” — GREG CAPULLO

Written by SCOTT SNYDER • Art by GREG CAPULLO and DANNY MIKI
Foil-stamped embossed cover by GREG CAPULLO
Variant covers by ANDY KUBERT, JIM LEE and JOHN ROMITA JR.

Written by MIKE W. BARR and JAI NITZ • Art by PHILIPPE BRIONES and SCOT EATON • Cover by FRAZER IRVING
Two members of Task Force X are back in these all-new adventures! First up: “REVENGE OF KOBRA” by writer Mike W. Barr and artist Philippe Briones. To oppose the terrorist Kobra is to earn his undying hatred, and that’s what the samurai Katana did when she killed his beloved Eve. Now, Kobra stalks Katana beyond the bounds of the Earth itself, to a supernatural world where he will steal from her everything that she has—including her very soul! And in “SUICIDE SQUAD BLACK,” by writer Jai Nitz and artist Scot Eaton, Sebastian Faust, the U.S. government’s top arcane operative, has gone rogue! To track down America’s most dangerous magician, Amanda Waller assembles a special ops team unlike any other: an expendable coven of dark arts experts including El Diablo, Enchantress and Gentleman Ghost. They are Suicide Squad Black, and they will take you to places where even the dead can die!

MISTER MIRACLE #1
Written by TOM KING • Art by MITCH GERADS • Cover by NICK DERINGTON • Variant cover by MITCH GERADS
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details.
From the team behind THE SHERIFF OF BABYLON and the Hugo Award-nominated writer of Vision comes a unique new take on one of Jack Kirby’s most beloved New Gods.
Scott Free is the greatest escape artist that ever lived. So great that he escaped Granny Goodness’ gruesome orphanage and the dangers of Apokolips to travel across galaxies and set up a new life on Earth with his wife, the former female fury known as Big Barda. Using the stage alter ego of Mister Miracle, he has made a career for himself showing off his acrobatic escape techniques. He even caught the attention of the Justice League, which counted him among its ranks.
You might say Scott Free has everything...so why isn’t it enough? Mister Miracle has mastered every illusion, achieved every stunt, pulled off every trick—except one. He has never escaped death. Is it even possible? Our hero is going to have to kill himself if he wants to find out.
Written by Tom King (BATMAN) and illustrated by Mitch Gerads (The Punisher), this is a MISTER MIRACLE unlike any you’ve read before.

Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details.
NIGHTWING: THE NEW ORDER is the story of a future world without “weapons”—where superpowers have been eliminated and outlawed. The man responsible? None other than Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing, now leader of a government task force called the Crusaders who are charged with hunting the remaining Supers. But when events transpire which turn the Crusaders’ aim toward Grayson’s own family, the former Boy Wonder must turn against the very system he helped create, with help from the very people he’s been hunting for years—the last metahumans of the DC Universe. Don’t miss this bold new vision from the team behind the New York Times bestseller BATMAN: GATES OF GOTHAM!

SUPERMAN AND THE MISERABLE, ROTTEN, NO FUN, REALLY BAD DAY HC
Written by DAVE CROATTO
Art and cover by TOM RICHMOND
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s the worst day ever! It’s a 100% UNauthorized children’s book parody as only MAD Magazine can do it in SUPERMAN AND THE MISERABLE, ROTTEN, NO FUN, REALLY BAD DAY!
It’s a day so terrible that only the Man of Steel could possibly hope to survive it! On this miserable, rotten, no fun, very bad day, Superman will face rampaging super-villains, angry editors, boring chores, a cranky Justice League and, worst of all, bad pizza. Superman’s home planet, Krypton, exploded—so he’s no stranger to bad days—but even so, this is one for the record books!
In this all-new story from the Usual Gang of Idiots at MAD Magazine (the same crew that brought you GOODNIGHT, BATCAVE) the best-selling children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is parodied with the heroes and villains from the world of DC Comics’ Superman!

This book upsets me so much... I want to read these comics so bad but that omnibus will be literally UNREADABLE, it will be like The Invisibles omni which is already fucking unreadable.

1500 pages is just too fucking much. The books gets destroyed by just sitting your shelf for along time due to gravity, the pages sink, hard to explain but anyone with big omnis knows what I'm talking about.

I want to read the Fourth World so bad but I refuse to buy another oversize omni, its just not worth the money, they deteriorates just from existing.

AMERICAN WAY: THOSE ABOVE AND THOSE BELOW #2
Written by JOHN RIDLEY • Art and cover by GEORGES JEANTY
The conflict with political radicals that took one man’s life sits heavy with Jason. Accusations that, by continuing to be the superhero the American, he’s become a pawn for the government have taken on a new sharpness as the Civil Rights movement of the 1970s gains an added urgency. This call to do what’s right is one that his former ally Amber Waves has already answered by taking matters into her own hands and using her powers to protest injustice—and she’s already paying the deadly cost as the police and Federal agents attack her where she lives. The sequel to the hit comics series continues, crafted by writer John Ridley (TV’s American Crime and Guerrilla).

What the fuck do you care about his family making money 20 years after he died? They've made money off his creations anyway and considering how crazy DC are about film rights they'll get an actual large sum for the Justice League movie and other characters where Kirby's characters will appear. These one shots are just pennies... if they even get anything for them.

But yes, it's a shit industry if you care mroea bout some people that didn't create anything making money off their father's creation than you do about the quality of content and the publisher honoring his legacy through good stories.

The worst thing rebirth crated are not the crappy comics, but retarded company boys like you. I've been called a marvelfag so many times this past year despite having a deep hatred for the company and finding even their best comics to be overrated. I guess ti was funny at first but now it's just stupid.

And he is right, for the past year Marvel has had betetr artists, by far. What, you think Jesus Merino, Pagulayan, Joe Bennett, Booth, Tony Daniel, Finch, Janin, Zircher, Kirkham, Shane Davis, Ching, Rocha are top tier talent? DC has very few great artist left and they'll probably lose them too. Ferreyra and Manapul are fantastic but... it kind of stops there. There are a few good ones like Evely or the guys on All Star Batman but they're not amazing.

Marvel has Del Mundo, Greg Smallwood, Christian Ward, Acuna, Jesus Saiz, Ramon Perez, Dauterman... they even had Frazer Irving on interiors recently.

Marvel has a stronger pool of artists right now. Deal with it.
