Cartoons offer far less variety than they did when we were kids. Kids can find infinitely more entertainment from watching youtubers make silly noises while playing Minecraft.

As for comics, they're just not available to kids. They'd have to beg their parents to go to specialty stores to get them, they can't just pick up a copy of Batman at Target or whatever.

Cause for some fucking reason society's pushing people to grow up as fast as possible and reading comics and watching cartoons (and anime) are habits not associated with maturity. It's so stupid, I'm 20 and when I was in school the only kids who watched cartoons were the social retards like me, everyone else was trying so hard to act more mature by doing things like having sex ASAP and doing nothing but studying and talking about career bullshit. I live in an oil field town and it's gone to shit recently so it's hard as hell to get a job around here now, a lot of people my age don't have jobs, some are in college or something but there's plenty of NEETs. It's like they wasted their youth and now there's a surplus of people going through delayed adolescence.

a) they're too expensive for their entertainment value. Even for a kid, it shouldn't take half an hour to read. Half an hour for 5 bucks? Basically anything else is more efficient money-to-time.
