Every 2nd and/or 22nd day of the month in the calendar, there will be a storytime of the first two issues (each) of two random semi-ongoing comics and/or miniseries.
Previous storytimes: http://desuarchive.org/co/search/subject/Twin-Pack%20Storytime
Charlton Comics was known for the following:
>lower page rates
>cheap paper and inks used
>a more relaxed editorial policy
>plastic cereal box printers that remained for the publisher's entire life
>questionable overall quality
>some creations were accused of being ripoffs of other properties (though Charlton also licensed a few TV and cartoon properties)
>salvaged several titles from dead or dying publishers in the span of only a few years
>perhaps surprisingly, stints of a few certain comic book legends
Remember to bump for readers/while reading.
Any storytime requests that are not 2-issue series must be done somewhere else. Thank you.
While Joe Simon and Jack Kirby's Mainline Publications was collapsing after nearly a year in business due to bad launch timing and a lawsuit over recycled art, they launched the "Win A Prize" anthology, the first known comic specifically made as a raffle, for Charlton Comics, probably over the duo's financial hardships at that time.
What a shitty scan (both the source and the way) for this one in particular.
Soon after, Timmy the Timid Ghost was launched, taking over Win A Prize's numbering (this practice of having other titles take over an existing title's numbering, probably a cost-saving measure, was not uncommon at Charlton but rarely practiced by other publishers).
Here's the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers mos— a strikingly similar Porky Pig. Watch out for hidden back-up features!
Depress this June 2!
