I'm planning on making a few pages to attract people to reading this comic, so what i plan to do is make a 20 to 30 page Mission (What I call Chapters).

I plan to have some pages be illustrations of the background and etc, like little moments where the viewer can relax and take in what they saw.
The other thing i have to do is spend less time using to much detail on a planning page, I need to try and only draw what is necessary to a panel. I spend to much time nitpicking on this pages and presenting them here.

Anyway here's two pages planned out don't know when I'll show any other pages, I might end up finishing most of the plans this week.

Which is a good thing really, I really need to focus on getting better in my art so i can apply to something.

Anyway, I'm try to avoid getting inspired by other media. That why i don't really read webcomics at all.

The ladybug is actually a pretty new design and a simple one too, any other bug design you'll see later on in the story. In fact one of the Main Characters is sort of a humaniod ant alien hybrid.

But even she needs to be work on...

To be really honest, not sure. This was very spur of the moment, kind of experimenting with the character/comic style without having a dedicated story in mind. The overall concept is there but I need to flesh out the finer details of what's going on still.

>>
>>92590580

I think it's a point of contention if anything. Beetlejuice is a kind of curse. I think in the most basic sense he is haunting her.

According to the movie they are supposed to be eternally bound. The cartoon technically continues this but, obviously, she is a kid so he is portrayed as more of a wacky friend in that. But the underlying point is that they are "married." Though, like I said, it's more of a curse, or pact.

Step 1 get a nice idea, draft it, store
Step 2 repeat step 1 until you have a bunch of nice ideas
Step 3 try to connect your good ideas with mediocre storytelling

That's how I do it. I think at the end people remember the times it got surprised the most (by plot twists, ridiculous scenarios or unexpected jokes)

You're allowed to make a gorillion mistakes because people brains tend to fill in the blanks. with idiotic conspiracies.

In the early drafts the aliens DID hide, but it was just too unbelievable for the kind of events I want the plot to have. Originally Sargreon and Mistaire used illusion magic to hide their greenness, but I realized that flawlessly masking their appearances was way too tidy. I also once considered having the heroes bust up security cameras and mess with the media to keep them hidden, but that's too much for the reader to sit back and accept.

Pic related, an idea for Mistaire to cover as much of her skin as possible and use face paint to look 'human.' I scrapped it immediately because she looks terrible that way.
>>
>>92597066
alright, so you're saying basically to take my ideas and figure out how to link them together through storytelling? thank you, that definitely helps!
>>
>>92596218
it's funnier if you delete "fuk" at the end
if you're going to make a comic that ends with a silly face you don't need words.
>>
>>92597068
I just like things like that for the same reason I like figuring out costumes. It's a neat logistical thing and i love when animation actually bothers to show the cracks in the facade properly. kinda like those neat bits in batman when jack nicholson has skin colored paint on his skin so it looks like he's painted over his chemical'd-white skin, and then rubbing white paint onto that looks like he's wiping skin colored paint OFF. that kinda shit. this is cool.
it also reminds me of that hot Monster Under the Bed comic I just discovered.. recently what I assumed was painted skin (which would work because even if it looked unnatural or had missed or blotchy spots, it's halloween, so it would instead look like the REST of it was poorly-applied paint) turned out to be glamour, but still. it would have worked on her

Practice free-handing it in the fonts you like.

Then practice drawing 2-3 panels at a time with no dialogue, only sound effects just to get the hang of placing.

The last panel looks weird with the purple and orange background especially at the corner... Can't tell if it's the store wall or what. You'd be better off with an actual background with blurry figures.

Anyway that was pretty enjoyable

Not surprised, but wrong. It's best for men to not cry because it's a waste of energy and could be channeled into something productive. Women cry because their tears are actually productive for them so long as men are nearby to see it. No one but your mom gives a shit if you cry

Got the second member of the crew finished for my space pirate series. Captain Viktara's trusty first mate, Felex Kay'daran. I'm still not entirely sure what kind of weapons I want him to use. I'm leaning towards throwing daggers, but a nice hooked sword for him to climb and parry larger enemies with is also really appealing.
>>
>>92617181
hmm he's a little guy with a wire-thin tail and an apostrophe in his name, and a dapper outfit with a high collar.. he looks like a rapier fighter to me
possibly some kind of space-age monofilament rapier whose blade is super flexible and can bend several times in midair to cut any complex thing and dodge right around an attempt at parrying
>>
>>92617387
That's certainly an option, but at the same time the mouse-keteer archetype has been done so many times before that I wanted to distance him that sort of gimmick. My original concept for him had him set as the team's marksman, but I backed away from that idea too because it was touching too close on Rocket Raccoon's territory.
>>
>>92618308
you have a point there, at least if he had a handcannon it'd be too similar. I think you could get away with piratepistols but you're looking at space-age tech so no matter what it's gonna be too Rockety. good call.
you could also modify your earlier ideas and let him have a sharp thingy or two on cords or chains. grappling hook is good, scorpion rope, something like a kusarigama.. and just for space goodness, they could electrify, or the grapple could have tiny thrusters on it..

Answering some old questions!
>What kind of name is Keo?
He's based off a neopet I had for a couple of years. I considered other names, because even to me Keo is a strange name, but I don't think I could change it now.

>I like your style a lot, but your original outfits aren't as strong. What are you going for?
Thanks! That means a lot, I'm kind of embarrassed to post my doodles.
I'm not really sure what you mean, I guess I want my comic to have 'real' clothes, and the clothes that Rin wears are what I think a fashion-conscious late-teens/early twenties girl would wear - cute, and impractical.

Attached are 3/4 of the draft (or are they called storyboards?) pages to the first 'chapter'. Drafting helps me figure out gestures, panels, placement, and pacing. My script had me at 12 pages, but now I think I'm looking at around 20 pages or so.

** Hair up or hair down? I'm leaning toward hair up.
*** A transformation scene
**** I wanted a panel showing all of my characters in a panel, but I can't really find a way to draw this. They're just sitting at a table, 3 on one side and one on the other. I'm leaning toward just skipping it altogether and starting the page off with that bust shot.
>>
>>92586475

Trying to make a nerd character that personifies the 60's. I'm leaning more towards a 'Beatle mania' sorta look and I'm thinking of giving him an English accent.

My main problem is I'm not sure which particular regional English accent I should go for. Which would you suggest for a somewhat shy character who often rambles with a lot of scientific jargon?
>>
What's the shittiest looking webcomic(s) that make the most money??
>>
>>92623136
english nerds are the best nerds. give him a real giant nose and a scouse accent.
>scientific jargon
oh uhh.. that's a horse of a different color then. in my experience with 60s english science nerds, they're pretty dang RP with only a little hint of an accent. but then most of those were fictional so it's hard to say
my suggestion? and this is just a suggestion for all of you in general... go watch HELP. the scientists in that were hilarious.

i mean a shy and mumbly guy might be a bit northern-sounding, bit of a jordie maybe, but that wouldn't work as well for sciencetalk.

>Step 2: Realize exactly how bad you are at drawing
>Step 3: Use this newly acquired shame as a fuel source for getting better at art

In all seriousness though you should definitely just jump into it. I've spent way to much of my creative career trying to 'prepare' myself for creating content only to realize that the best way to acquire these skills is to just do it. Study is important but there's no need to do it in a vaccuum.

I'm actually trying to figure out how to mimic webcomic upload frequency (weekly/daily) with my animations since Youtube is more likely to promote my stuff then. The problem is that it's going to be hard to do this without the quality of my content dropping.

Which do you all prefer? A mediocre webcomic that uploads frequently or an amazing webcomic that uploads rarely?
And more importantly, which do you spend more time reading?

>>
>>92627791
I mean, you can skip half of those.. just make sure it's the right half

>>92627896
the problem is a ton of people started to get this idea that heads-tall is more than just a statistic. they think it's this guide to use.. and it's so not that. it's a measurement, it's not to be used FOR measurement any more than you use your shoe size to measure things by walking (unless you happen to have one-foot feet, but even then, it's hard to get a perfect reading because toes bunch up when they bash into the back of your heels)

I saw this girl whose characters weren't remotely the heads-tall that she wrote down that they are.. and was confused about why the 'bigger' one was fewer heads tall.. and I'm just like why are you even paying attention to that
>>
>>92628036
i kind of prefer the difference to be split. daily is nice, obviously more than daily is a detriment. weekly is the bare minimum, and has some drawbacks, but usually comes with higher quality comics. most of the time it ends up being every 2-3 days, and that's a fine compromise.

in your case i'd upload enough animation every day for people to go 'whoa that was cool', however long that is. MIght even be like Vine length. however, if I recall correctly, anything under a minute doesn't get monetized. you're basically fucked trying to make youtube money on animation.
>>
>>92627735
This is really sweet and funny. Nicely done.

>>92627896
I never did it either, but the better I got the more I realized how important it is. You're not always going to have something to compare your character to, and especially if you have unusual proportions that you need to keep consistent at weird angles, it becomes indispensable.

Just another word of advice, don't chicken scratch. Start drawing with confidence! When I started taking longer and broader strokes on my sketches, my characters started coming out more fluid and dynamic looking since I could focus on the overall form rather than getting every line "perfect" (which ironically just made it look more messy.) It's faster, cleaner, and good practice for when you start lining your drawings.
>>
>>92631346
Forgot to clarify, it's okay to go over a line a few times, but don't inch your way down the entire drawing scratch by scratch.

Also for my own question, does anyone know how to better advertise their art content overall? I went over the Miss Melee promotion guide and it was an invaluable asset, but I'm talking more in terms of growing a fanbase around your art in general. I've been posting on Deviant Art and Twitter, but I don't know what groups or hashtags to put my stuff under now that I'm not doing fanart. I know Tumblr is a good place to post your art, but I don't have a clue how it works and I don't really care to know.

If you want to level up, you have to work on something. I still care for this story and so I make sure with every chapt I put out, I'm make some progress. My beginning work and my current work are loads different and I hope currently better than when I started. You should care, because then it'll be what motivates you to give the series the proper treatment it deserves as well as motivate you to improve for the series. Good luck.

/co/ what's your opinion on doing something a bit too similar to someone elses' work? Should you strive to separate yourself more or just be confident that people won't call you a rip off?

Also what's your opinion on having things make "perfect sense" even in a fantasy setting?
>>
>>92634168
>"perfect sense" even in a fantasy setting
Strive for internal consistency even if it's a bullshit explanation anywhere else, unless you're sacrificing basic common sense for no good reason.

>doing something a bit too similar to someone elses' work
It depends on how similar the ideas are, and whether or not you were aware of the other work while you were developing your own. While two properties may have a basic similarity, a lot depends on the execution; one may remain mediocre while the other exceeds expectations.
Finding your own angle or exploring a different aspect is always good though.
>>
>>92634168
>scientific explanation behind a mystical thing
Sci-fi
If you want it to be a fantasy, it doesn't need to make perfect sense.

If the idea was your own original thought, and by coincidence you found something similar, then I don't think people would pin it to be the same. Copying is blatant; if you're familiar with Dewd's work.

WELL. It was a /ic recommendation. They always have threads comparing one sharing site to another. Apparently instagram gets a lot of traffic so there's some merit to at least attempting to use it. It is a pain in the ass though.

After this last little comic I'm getting a bit of traction on twitter which is good. And apparently the Inspector Gadget one blew up on tumblr while I wasn't looking (well, blew up relative to the 2-3 notes I was getting before.)

Instagram is NOT meant to share art though. That's for sure. Unless you're taking pictures of it with your phone. So in the end I may ghost it, but I'll try it out for now.

Yeah but I kind of ran into an issue where I feel like it doesn't make sense for all my kaiju to come from an underwater trench. I wanted a large variety of giant monsters. Like a giant one laying dormant in a trench would be fine but the thousands of smaller ones just being held in by him blocking the only path out seems contrived to me. Also I want them to be varied, the giant sea roaming ones would be fine to be down there but I also wanted slightly smaller giant monsters that are based on land predators like cheetahs and flying monsters and the only idea that even came close to a satisfying explanation for me was trying to explain them like those creepy prehistoric land whales who were the link between land and sea mammals but these were somehow evolved for sprinting.

But like you said "makes you feel neat about the world" was something I wanted to go for. I don't really want the kaijus to come across as invaders of some kind. I want it to feel like this is their world too but them and man are in constant conflict.

The inter-dimensional angle barely gets around it by making them neither brought into Earth of their own will nor sent here to destroy humanity. However the ultimate conclusion my mind goes with interdimensional kaijus seems a little bananas so I'm not sure if I want to take the story that way if I decide on it.
>>
>>92639544
>>92640848

Think about what the kaiju are and build their "delivery" system from there.

Are they ancient bio-labor creations from Atlantis hidden beneath the ground and woken up by explorers? In such a case all the kaiju would arrive all at once and the heroes would have to play catch up to slowly get a handle on the situation.

Are they the pawns of an alien empire bent on conquering Earth? If so then they'd be deployed like troops as best the bad guys thing will give them an edge and might be upgraded and improved to counter the hero's mech abilities. They'd be an element of arms race through the series.

Talk to me about your monsters Anon. It sounds like you want a wide variety. Are all the monsters the same "kind" of monster, the same species, or is it more like the Fog where they're the creatures of an alien ecosystem suddenly thrust on the Earth?
>>
>>92640848
maybe there were once tunnels, or the sea swallowed a bunch of them up
in the end what you really need to explain is their temporary torpor. other dimension does solve that problem nicely though
You could also go with time portal and just say back in one of those lost atlantis-y kind of ages, this shit was just around. maybe wizards did it.

Thanks; I can give you the plot pitch for the project. It's in large part a pastiche of Hamlet and Macbeth.

For a time, the young prince was truly happy: he had his father’s love, his childhood sweetheart’s hand in betrothal, and all the luxuries the palace could afford. After ten years, even the bitter wounds from last civil war seemed to be healing, and the future looked bright. But one night, awakened by a voice in his ear, the prince strays down to the throne room, where he finds a gruesome figure waiting for him: the ghost of the king whom the prince’s father usurped in the civil war.

The scornful ghost whispers to the prince of his father’s sins: deceit, betrayal, and the murder of the whole royal family—sins which the prince has inherited as his father’s heir. There is only one way for the prince to cleanse his soul, the ghost tells him: one of the dead king’s daughters managed to escape the coup and was hidden away by his faithful steward. The prince must find her, overthrow his father, and install the rightful princess on the throne. Only then will justice be done.

As the grisly apparition fades away, the prince gathers up his nerves and makes a fateful decision in the name of protecting all he holds dear: he will go and seek out the lost princess—and he will kill her.

Meanwhile in the countryside, a girl sits at the deathbed of the man who raised her—the king’s steward—and makes a decision of her own. Though the steward had trained her in the military arts and had always hoped she’d avenge his beloved king, she has seen firsthand how the people suffer, and how impotent even a mighty lord is to improve the common folks’ lot. Taking the steward’s sword and armor, she adopts the guise of a knight and dedicates her life to the good of the people, whatever that may entail.

A prince descending into squalor and a princess rising out of it; it’s only a matter of time before their paths—and blades—finally cross.

How intelligent do you want your Kaiju to be?
>>
>>92641127
If I was going to go with the trench idea they'd be an unknown period of prehistory that suddenly awoke and surged back onto Earth fucking all our shit. Then everything resituates eventually to deal with these monsters in our world. While we can fight them off, extermination just isn't something we have the manpower for yet.
With the alternate dimension idea I was going to go with the route that they're an alternate evolution of life on Earth whom we're somehow inter-dimensional kindred spirits with. Though we can't truly sense one another. However there's another dimension between us which is also our kindred that is conscious of us both. It develops an infatuation with both humanity and the kaiju and desperately wishes for them to meet. So it manipulates the dimensions to merge the two effectively dropping kaijus into our world all of a sudden.
There's also the idea that humanity and the Kaiju are subtlety psychically linked because our "kindred nature" which is why they attack man's cities. The mass of human consciousness thinking in a concentrated area is offensive to them, even worse when they have panicked or violent thoughts.
Ultimately it ends up the first scenario which still has the psychic idea but it's less to do with inter-dimensional weirdness and more an arbitrary weirdness.
>>92641507
I'm not sure. It'll probably be varied
>>
>>92641311
Your writing is great, but for some reason I can't figure out what's going on. can you summarize? It's probably my problem.
>>
>>92641615
That sounds.. kind of esoteric.
>>
>>92641675
Yeah that was my point.
I'm afraid going that weird might detract from the simple idea of a world that rebuilt itself to survive among giant monsters.
I think I haven an issue with trying to work backwards from that point to make a somewhat coherent/consistent world, while also no compromising on some ideas I really think would be fun like the psychic thing was actually branching off of me wanting to have a ridiculous scenario that's basically pro wrestling with kaiju, but "recreating" world war 2 with the kaiju standing in for the warring nations. Then had to think of way you could tame a giant monster. Then I just decided a psychic could do it, and it'd be funny if someone with the phenomenal ability to control giant monsters would exploit it for schlocky entertainment like that. Then I thought I could branch out with the psychic idea. Which then started becoming a major cause for all these things happening in the first place also just general autism. And I'm obviously not a writer.
>>
>>92641675
Sounds good to me. Is it any weirder than so say the premise of Evangelion? Weird is good.

>>92641615

>Unknown period of prehistory

So sort of going back to Kaiju's roots in Lost World stories like King Kong and Beast from 20,000 Fathoms? I can dig it.

>Alternate evolution of life on Earth

So in Universe B something happened when the Earth was young to make Kaiju evolve instead of the fauna we're familiar with, but Universe A and Universe B are connected by psychic powers. Their noosphere/collective unconscious overlap like how the Speed Force exists in all universes in DC comics. And this noosphere is quasi-sentient and wants to have man and kaiju meet because it's sort of naive and this leads to suddenly kaiju.

Kaiju are from a world with a lower population density so they're used to a world where their thoughts have lot of room to roam around, but on Earth there's so many minds talking and communicating at once-and that's not even getting into quasi-minds like the internet-that things are real crowded for the Kaiju and this scares them. They see cities as giant psychic cages and rage against cages like any animal would.

This basically how the plot is Anon? Got any ideas for human characters and mechs? Any pics?

>Afraid going this weird might detract from the simple idea of a world that rebuilt itself to survive among giant monsters

Just keep the setting lore simmering in the background. Have characters mention stuff in passing, maybe a few small expo dumps at the beginning, and things will be fine.

>spoiler

So are there no mechs for the humans in this setting, just pet giant monsters?

The son of an usurper is tasked with finding a lost princesss, the rightful heir to the throne, and overthrowing his father so the princess can become queen. However, he decides to kill her instead to protect his family.

Meanwhile, that princess disguises herself as a knight and goes around fighting bandits and corrupt barons, etc.

The two meet and become friends, but when they eventually learn each other's true identities, will their bond survive?

Nothing is concrete yet.
A couple ideas for characters
Like >>92641641 there's a manager/ringmaster with his stable of kaiju.
An idea for a courier service that flies high priority items since they're the only ones who can move anything quickly since the transportation system was fucked
>>92642153
The rough idea is this takes place about 60 years in the future. Humanity is technologically more along, the population is slightly over 10 billion, we've created technology that allows for basically these country sized artificial islands for the growing population to live on. Transportation has advanced greatly, basically you can be anywhere in the world in hours. Some neat super science stuff but nothing too dwelled on. Then the kaiju show up and immediately begin attacking populated areas. The really big guys are difficult to repel. This goes on for 5 years. By the end of this "war" humanity has made good strides in anti-Kaiju technology but there are still one they're just not making dents in. Humanity's population is now just about below 5 billion. We're pretty scattered. Everyone handles the situation differently. Large cities are basically fortresses with access to some of the best tech to repel Kaiju but they can't really give a fuck about the smaller settlements scattered about. The small places aren't really in danger like the city since small population means Kaijus aren't as intensely drawn to you so basically they're treated like something akin to a tornado. Just duck down when they pass through town once every blue moon then rebuild. Though there are PMCs out there willing to handle it for a price. Also different factions with their own shady projects and agendas.
Right now I'm jus writing down ideas, trying to piece stuff together and get an idea where I'd want to go. Personally I think I'd just like to explore the different systems of the world then maybe try to create a more forward moving narrative out of those plot lines.

Oh you know, pretending we have webcomics. I see a common problem with a lot of people always in that "gonna make that webcomic soon" phase. That endless cycle of ideas without actually following through. Watching them get older with every passing day. Decaying before my very eyes.

Does... Does that apply to people who are trying to get better at art before trying to tackle a comic? I spend at least a couple hours every day trying to get my art up to any sort of standard.

Though part of me is starting to think that I might be more suited to children's books instead. I should try watercolors

Actually doing the comic gets you that needed practice while making content that makes it easier for you to be noticed.
>>
>>92646622
I have two ideas, and one of them's a lewd comic so I really want to have some level of art ability before tackling that one. A non-fappable lewd comic is pointless, after all.

But good point about the practice. My other idea is a cat and dog detective, so I can experiment with styles with that too. Like one arc could be from a bird's perspective, so it'd be all minimalist and from an aerial perspective. I think I need a better tablet, though. I'm getting a lot of ghost lines and tend to get frustrated with it very easily compared to pen and paper. Any recommendations for something in the hundred-ish range?
>>
>>92646839
agreed. though a comic can have somewhat amateur art and still be hot (see 'anewenfartist'), it just can't be ugly and eyesoreish.
>ghost lines
whut? anyway, you cant go wrong with cheap huion tablets
>>
>>92646617
I've moved on to other projects. It's still in my pocket if I find one, but at the moment I've got a novel and I'm trying to learn how to code on my own. Also most of the design documents were lost due to my laptop crashing. I've got most of it memorized. Also I unfortunately discovered that there are a lot of post-apocolyptic webcomics, so my niche is more or less filled.
>>
>>92646839

You can't go wrong with Wacom. You can get a good medium sized table for $130 on Amazon. They also have refurbished tablets. There's cheaper alternatives but you pay more for Wacom for the quality.

>>92646967

I just ordered a Huion so I will see how that compares. I used a Monoprice and while that wasn't bad I just want back to my old Wacom. But now that's dead and I want to save some money on something I don't need as much anymore. I still use the tablet to doodle and make corrections on my artists' work.
>>
>>92647078
huion is just the same as mono price, which was the same as uc-logic, so you can use the same pen if you still have it!
>>
>>92646967
Like, lines present that I didn't draw for one reason or another. I'll get dots on the exact opposite corner of where I'm drawing. And sometimes, no matter where I draw, it just makes a straight vertical line up the middle. A lot of it is me not being used to tablets, but I refuse to believe drivers and shitty tablet quality doesn't have something to do with it. And sometimes, it will just want to move the layer instead of drawing. I think that's a problem with one of the pen buttons being sticky.
>>
>>92647305
that is nutty. either it's malfunctioning, you're getting a conflicting signal from some other item, or you're bumping your mouse
>>
>>92647582
It's just a shitty 50 dollar monoprice I got before I was sure if this was something I was going to stick with so I just chalked it up to that. Maybe I'll mess around with it a bit more before dropping another hundred bucks though. It would be nice not to have to eat into my doll fund.
>>
>>92586475
Ugh. I do have a webcomic I'm working on, but it's actually being written into a "first season" screenplay (like around 13 different 53-60 page long scripts) while I get up my art skills.

This isn't shying away from doing the comic, my art is still literally beginning tier, like "/ic/ wouldn't even critique they'd just shitpost Loomis links because they'd assume that I haven't read the sticky"-tier. Til I get get to the point where I can make progress on a sort of throwaway comic idea, I'm sticking to mainly practice and study and writing.
>>
>>92648818
at least you're aware of that
>>
>>92590580
In the movie Betelgeuse is the villain, he's only interested in Lydia because he has to get married in order to be free (it's not clear if this means he comes back to life, or if he's no longer imprisoned until someone says his name three times).

In the cartoon he's just Lydia's wacky friend. They don't even explicitly refer to him as a ghost.
>>
>>92649439
i mean, they did say 'ghost with the most' ad nauseum...
>>
>>92648818
What is it about
>>
>>92649439
>>92649480
in fact if I'm not mistaken, it's the movie where they never call him a ghost.. so you're sort of left wondering if he's a demon (given the name betelgeuse) or if he's actually from another planet or something, since there are saturn worms and shit..
>>
>>92649653

He says "I'm the ghost with the most, babe" (I don't remember him saying that in the cartoon), he also says "you're talking to a dead guy" and "this whole death thing is just too creepy."

Of course he also says he attended Juilliard and that he lived though the black plague, which are sort of mutually exclusive.

Third time sharing this on this board, and it's cartoon related not comic related, but...
>Be me 1 year ago, around this time (summer 2016)
>Contacted by a producer of a Warner Bros. show (on CN) thru Tumblr
>Asks if I storyboard, and if I'm professional
>Say that I'm not pro, but I have boarded multiple personal projects
>Says he'll give me a shot
>Every message since the beginning gets slow replies, at some point it took a week. Wait 1.5 weeks (to me, an eternity) for my test. Posting on social media a lot about it. Sign NDA.
>I get the storyboard test

Sounds like it was all bullshit.
Why the fuck would a producer message you through tumblr.
Why the fuck would they then send you a test over the internet.
They've probably got a million art grads desperate for work flocking to do work for absolute peanuts and yet somehow you think they're going throw you out the golden invite over the internet.

I hope you learned a lesson from all this.

need advice!

Illness has given me some real time and depression to work on a webcomic. Over the past years I've written a painkiller fueled, morbidly obsessed, ultra gorey, story about an "elite healer" and the people he has to keep alive. (think a healer in WoW). have 100ish solid pages written. My question?

>should I really let a product of my depression out into the world?
>should I care about people reading it?
>should I care that my comic will be viewed by most people as glorified gore porn?

This is actually interesting to me. And honestly, from what I hear, yeah, it makes sense. Just a little sad. Is there a future for storyboarders trying to get in anyways? Might as well just start your own show and make a Patreon at this rate.

It's awesome that they actually got back to you! I actually did follow up asking for a reply/feedback from them, as suggested by an old lead storyboarder for the show I ended up contacting. Solarpunk as an aesthetic has been around forever, people just recently decided to give it a name. It's an offshoot of cyberpunk where the city mixes with nature more; it can be a beautiful paradise like Castle in the Sky, or something gritty like Tekkonkinkreet. I love either.

>>
>>92649551
It's changed a lot since I last posted the idea in a pitchfag thread, so yeah sure.

It's basically about an awkward teenage girl who can travel into the dreams of others, using that ability to help her cast of eccentric and often unstable classmates and dig up more about an underlying mystery underneath the town, mainly dealing with an underground cult attempting to resurrect a lovecraftian horror from beyond the impossible. Overtime we're introduced to first the friend circles and relationships surrounding the school, and later on the social structures dictating the surrounding towns where the central characters live and work. As the comic progresses we are also introduced to the idea that other teens in the area have begun developing suspicious abilities, namely the "queen bitch" of school, who here has been translated to the defacto head of the drama kids, who's dangerous ability to steal memories threatens the stability of the entire community.
