I'm just not satisfied on how little effort and emotion he put into their final moment. I would've been okay with Ashi dying if she didn't go out that way.
I'm already upset on how much focus and pacing their relationship took only for it to go nowhere. But at least it's implied their love lives on in Jack. Fact is JACK GOT BACK that's all the show ever was mixed with beautiful scenery and fight choreography of which the former is what we got in the ending. The principle idea is that in order to defeat Aku, a sacrifice needed to be made. In this case, the choice is clear:

Option A: Go back in time to Defeat Aku, sacrificing the Aku-Controlled Timeline and all its inhabitants, and relegate them to a state of Never-Were

Option B: Sacrifice the Peoples of the Past, ensuring that Aku would at least get the period of time during Samurai Jack's Absence to reck havok.

Assuming They Beat Aku before Ashi opens a portal to the past, Samurai Jack would have been been in a moral dilemma, one that he might not be able to possibly resolve(though all indications from the previous 4 seasons is that he would have taken up the offer) if he sat down and thought about it long and hard.

Episode was going well but everything after they went back to the past was extremely rushed and underwhelming.
Ending made no sense. If Ashi was never there to begin with then Jack would have never had a way to go back into the past. Either keep things consistent of "paradoxes can exist" or kill both Jack and Ashi so they can be in the afterlife with the Scotsman and everyone else like Jack's family.
Very poorly thought out ending that I fail to see much happiness in Jack for, he's back in his own time but what did he gain? Memories that never happened and loneliness.

My dumb as hell personal Fan Theory is that the Time Portal the Guardian was Protecting was for Jack, but not for the current jack.

It's look was different from any other time portal seen so far in the series. So, my hypothesis is the following: The Guardian's Time Portal was meant for a Jack that returned to the past and defeated Aku to return to the Aku-Future Timeline to defeat Aku.

If we look at King Jack, he's not wearing any new tech, just a crown, a red cloak and that's it. So my hypothesis states that after Jack beats Past-Aku, he spends X number of years wandering, doing good until finding the time portal that gives him the chance to return to the future and beat Aku.

This would give him a nice moral out. But Samurai Jack was never about getting a Good Ending.

Yeah, it stung because of multiple reasons:

I was happy Jack returned to the past (as he should have) but didn't like that Ashi came along. She should've died right away but I'm glad she died anyway. It's like Genndy heard our complaints about Ashi and decided to give us this one final thing, and for that I'm thankful. Genndy might not have taken the best route to the ending, but the end result (back in the past, no aku, no ashi) I am very content with.

I felt that it represented how Jack lost the one thing that gave him hope in his time of darkness but the lady bug showed that it all still happened and the hope that Ashi brought will stay with him always. That scene on its own was really beautiful, I just wish it didn't feel like it happened so fast, as if we went from A to C.
