I think a lot of people's memory of invader Zim has been corrupt by their memory of it's hot topic fans. The show had genuinely clever writing, an intriguing universe and memorable characters. GIR is annoying in like 3 episodes from season 1 but other than that it maintains a very consistently high level of quality. I regularly have quotes or gags from it pop into my head and after all these years they still make me laugh.

I think it might be because some episodes were in fact episodic and some ending with many people dying or the town destroyed, just for everything to go back to normal.

But the introduction of Tak did imply that it was going to have some continuity of the show continued, and I remember old interviews of Vasquez saying the show ending Zim as a hero of Earth.

Wiki says that the final episode was going to be about Zim's backpack coming off, and it being revealed that the backpack was some sort of life support system for him, and if it's disconnected for more than 10 minutes, he dies. The episode originally ended with just that: Zim dying, but apparently the network requested that they change it so he gets the backpack back right at the last moment.

There was another idea, possible connected, that the two Almighty Tallest were in fact charlatans wearing suits that made them appear tall and they had locked the real Tallest away somewhere.

Hopefully, if this is a success Jhonen will work with Nick to help create some shows, or at least work with other creators on future projects. He still tries to be active in content creation, but Disney killing Very Important House and then keeping the body probably soured him on working with other studios. At least Nick gave him a chance.

No, no, I actually like Invader Zim, and I am the opposite of hype. I think the best case scenario is they make it "Zim Eats Waffles 2: Zim Eats Crepes", and just have Zim eat breakfast for an hour and a half to troll the fans.

What I'm afraid they'll do is some generic "hero and villain team up" plot where Zim and Dib have to work together (again) against some internet meme threat; zombies, or Cthulhu. And all the while there are blink and you'll miss it, walk-on cameos of characters from the series. The rat Iggins flies by over-head, the tallest appear on Zim's screen long enough to say two lines and then the Resisty chase them off, etc. It'd be shit.

Back when I first moved to a different state a couple of years back, my apartment fell through at the last minute so I had to stay at a random place listed on Craig's list for a month. It was a run-down house some 30-year-old chick inherited from her parents, inhabited by about 8 different tenants. They did nothing but drink and watch TV all night and sleep all day. About halfway through the month, the water got shut off. Thankfully, I only had to live there for a month.

At some point I remember finding a GIR plush on the ground that the dogs were using as a chew toy. Sure, some Hot Topic kids grew up, while others just ended up like that.
