Why bother wasting your time making an animated short when the animator can sit on their ass playing vidya while making unfunny jokes with their spastic buddy and make just as much money from it without all the effort.

Make way, way more money, you mean. Youtube fucked up hard. Long story short, they changed the way videos are monetized (officially to fight off "clickbait" vids) in a way that rewards long and regular releases heavily compared to short but massively-viewed content. Essentially killing animation in favor of let's plays. Some try to help (for instance the Game Grumps regularly sponsor the guys doing Grump Animated vids) but that's pretty much charity and not exactly a model that can be heavily spread.

Dead and replaced with SPIDER-MAN ELSA IN REAL LIFE videos.
