I suspect the major problem is the expectation that it cannot be, because Clark is soul-fused to Lois, thus it must be written that something is inherently wrong with any other pairing. And with Wondy already plagued with consistent characterization issues, she suffers the brunt of the bad writing.

SM/WW is one of those "good in theory" things, like fast food or communism. Perhaps one day they'll actually be able to be themselves without it being some bad end reality or there being some bizarre alternate agenda to fuck over the universe.
But probably not.

They find it awesome having two godlike character being attracted to each other's godly power and being together while dealing with the hubris of godhood or them together against the whole wide world. They find the whole concept appealing.

I agree that writers show Lois to be a cunt, but it's rarely shown to be a bad thing, and is in fact frequently shown as a good thing, like Superman needs a stronk, independent womyn to keep him on a leash. Superman flying off the handle whenever Lois dies should be enough proof that she gets an unreasonable amount of importance out of all of Superman's relationships.

Electrical Engineer Lana Lang in the New 52 was a pretty good choice, though. She got to accompany Superman on his adventures and wasn't a total cunt. Shay Veritas could've been an interesting fling if anyone aside from Lobdell actually remembered she existed.

That's false. For one Batman and Wonder Woman never actually dated in anything for her to be another notch on his bat-belt. For another Batman, outside of Catwoman, is pretty much sexless. He's not like Wolverine who has banged half of the MCU.

Superman has canonically dated more women than Batman.

The other thing that Wonder Woman never suffers from mis-characterization where she teams up with Batman, on the contrary, all their team-ups are all about servicing her character. It's all about Batman seeing her as the best and purest hero of in the world, the hope that one day there'll be a better world, and every time she tells him to shut up he does like a good little boy, or then he's shown to be wrong about something with her teaching him a better way.

Y'know, there's a fic I read with pretty much this exact plot. It's pretty good. Discovered recently that it's actually the second in a series.

They were awful in KC. Wonder Woman was a pushy bitch that wanted him to act drastically as her, Superman was chocked and disappointed with how much she changed, they constantly argued and offended each other, then out of nowhere she's telling him to ignore the past and enjoy the present, this after one of the most tragic shit to ever happen, almost as if she didn't cared and now could only think of having his dick. She even give him his Clark Kent glasses so that she can become his Lois. Later she's pregnant and asking Batman to be their child godfather because she fear their baby might grow without any human perspective being raised by two godly parents. And Superman still joking about things he'd do with Lois, which was creepy as fuck.

Flash foward to Thy Kingdom Come and they've like 5 children. It's like they've been doing nothing but constantly fuck in the Kents barn. And in the far future Wonder Woman's dressed pretty much as Lara Zor El, Superman's mom, because fuck Wonder Woman mythos. She was there to be Lois 2.0 and now she's Lara 2.0.

What i mean with my rant is, it's not the most romantic of stories or flattering portrayal of WW. She was an afterthought in the whole meant only to serve Superman's character.

None that I know of. I did get desperate enough to check Fanfiction.net at one point but there was barely anything there and, surprise surprise, what little there was was either filled with edgy angst, or such a lack of understanding of romantic relationships and what makes for a good conflict within them, that they could only have been written by an adolescent who has never seen a romance plot outside of Higschool Musical. It seems that outside of the chans there's not a lot of people interested in a well-written, heart-boner-inducing, romance novel between two characters from a lighthearted children's comedy serial that is past it's prime.

Because appealing to the lowest common denominator is what results in shows like Jonny Test and Teen Titans Go. Popularity is a Fickle thing, especially when it comes from Adolescents. It is a very real possibility that those that once liked it will grow to despise it once they grow up. To put effort and soul in and create something of quality will generate a much more stable and appreciative audience, and may even result in it lasting generations, as opposed to a cheap romp appealing to one's baser fantasies which will be quickly forgotten by the march of time.

That's what they do every time they explore the pairing. Their focus more on their godly nature and each other exacerbating that side in one another. Never much on their on their humanity. Even in KC where you've WW trying to remind SM of his Clark Kent persona, you've that reminder where WW ask BM to be the godfather of their child because she fear their baby will grow up without any humanity. It's like Waid couldn't hold himself of reminding the reader that SM and WW are so much more than mere humans and thus need BM to keep working on never let themselves be above humans. The Clark Kent bit and them being together as a couple wasn't enough.
