Show Maurecia should've been shown eating ice cream more. That was one of the cornerstones of her book character.

I know the show wasn't very faithful to the books in general, but Maurecia, along with Todd, was one of the few characters that wasn't all too far off from her book character (it was said that she could beat up any guy in Mrs. Jewls' class, and her favorite ice cream flavor was Todd-flavor).

Since Louis Sachar didn't like the Wayside TV series based on the books(he told me in an email), I wish he would do another adaptation where he personally would write the screenplay, like Holes. It would perhaps better capture the spirit of the books better than the show, which was written by other people who had presumably never met Mr. Sachar.

I loved the Wayside books growing up, and I feel like it has amazing potential as a TV show or movie, even if that potential has been previously mishandled.

So the edition of Sideways Stories that I have appears to have illustrations copyright 1985; this is a reprint of a 1985 edition, printed in 1998.

The other two books are some of the sequels, and have illustrations copyright 2003.

More on topic, I was incredibly fucking disappointed by this show. The wayside books were my first favorites as a kid, and I love the characters and stories to this day. The show just didn't even attempt to do it any justice.

On it's own the show is okay for who they were targeting, the humour is stale and while Maurecia is indeed adorable, the animations are just weird(like how their arms go up to their heads whenever they're shrugging or whatever), most of the backlash comes from the fact that its just not Wayside,if they called it something else then people wouldnt be as disappointed
