>Read a bunch of the iconic Vertigo runs and loved almost all of them
>Decide to take a look at some of their lesser known titles
>Almost every one I've read was middling at best and 9 times out of 10 had an incredibly anti-climatic ending
Since I seem to keep hitting the stinkers, anyone have any recommendations for more obscure Vertigo titles? The Exterminators and Survivor's Club has made me wary of just reading whatever cover and plot summary happens to pique my interest.
>>
>>92500324
Genuinely curious, which ones were awful to you? I admit to have only read the larger titles from the imprint.
>>
>>92500842
Like I said, they're not awful but they're pretty damn mediocre and generally uninspired. The Exterminators started off a bit interesting but added but some elements later on felt out of place and the ending felt incredibly rushed. Survivor's Club took an interesting concept and executed it the blandest and most cliched way possible. The Names had a great art direction but the writing was nothing special and it just ended on a bullshit cliffhanger. Greatest Hits was basically just "what if the Beatles were superheroes?" and was completely forgettable. Get Jacked was too brief and never really did went anywhere past the initial concept to be memorable in any way. House of Mystery was probably the strongest title I'm listing here but it still had its dips in quality and even ignoring the stories told by random patrons the plot felt a bit disjointed and setting felt like a jumble of random ideas.

Like I said, I was just looking for some more obscure gems and every time it feels like I've chosen poorly so far.

You ever read Enigma? I really liked that one and I never hear anyone talk about it.
>>
>>92501173
Already read it my dude and thoroughly enjoyed it. That was years ago when I apparently was reading all the good Vertigo stuff though.

Gotta be more obscure than that, read it years ago and quite enjoyed it.

There definitely is. My late high school self really got some mileage out of that.
It's Suicide Girls though, so she really only gets topless

>>92501829
Models name is Vitriol. It was a Halloween set. If I remember correctly, I had to search for a megapack of a certain year, and then sort through it to find the full set

>why and how did the 1st Despair die?

>Why and how did Delight turn to Delirium?
Not quite sure if it was answered exactly but I thought it was said/implied it was jut a natural transition as the world itself changed.

>why and how did the 1st Despair die?
Never answered.

It was mentioned that her death was caused by her own actions. Also, she convinced Rao to create life on an unstable planet. Add two and two together, and...

Which is scarier - hell being the only option, or going to hell knowing that there is an alternative?Depends on person, I guess.
>>
>>92503498
What the fuck did they do to Lucifer?
>>
>>92503522
it wouldn't really be hell if you didn't have a choice, it would just be life. unless you remember your past life then, of course it feels like hell.
>>
>>92503143
Yes, but in a dramatic and allegorical way.

The Endless have dominion over a sphere related to mortals. While there's more to mortals than the Endless's spheres, taking away any aspect of the way an Endless's sphere intersects with a mortal existence removes an essential part of the mortal. The demons would simply be lying to themselves if they "tormented" something less than a mortal.

For many people life is a hell of their own Design.
>>
>>92503465
Rao killed Despair is that what you're saying?
>>
>>92504287
What I am saying is Superman created so much hope that it killed the first Despair.
BUT THAT'S JUST A THEORY

Just bought Morrison's Doom patrol Vol1, what am I in for?
>>
>>92498966
So why did he design a helmet like that? Was it just Dream being a dork?
>>
>>92500324
I feel the exact opposite. Stuff like Y The Last man, Transmetropolitan or Black Orchid(the mini, haven't read the ongoing) didn't do it for me but I loved The Eaters, the Kid Eternity ongoing(nobody talks about this...not that there's a lot of talk about the mini either), The Extremist, Madame Xanadu, The Heart of The Beast...
>>
>>92503174
>>Why and how did Delight turn to Delirium?
it's a symptom of her being born into the universe as a teen going through puberty. She is the embodiment of that change, but she is one of the Endless and doesn't age so she is stuck at an imbetween. She isn't a child and isn't an adult, she is always going through change but not really changing into anything. This seemed to break her mind a bit and the delight of child like things became confusion and delerium.

Gaiman himself talked about the puberty stuff.

I hope if I die Death greets me naked, then has sex with me.
>>
Vertigo has had so many decent to amazing comics it'd be shorter and easier to list what they did bad.

Like how New Romancer sucked balls and how Red Thorn went south fast.
>>
>>92505797
Which Death?
What if it's Anubis, and he's willing but only if he's the pitcher?
>>
>>92504490
First Despair died well before Supes arrived to Earth. Current Despair appears at the wedding of Orpheus.
>>
>>92505255
Some great and crazy stuff that gets even better with every storyline.
>>
>>92505339
Yes. Also, it was the skull and spine of some unknown creature he killed.
>>
Is Vertigo finished? The current line-up is gotta be the weakest in it's entire history....
>>
>>92508542
They lost/fired Berger and Bond, but did recently move around a former Batman editor to watch over Vertigo and Young Animal
