I think what annoys me most about this is how it highlights that the final taboo in capecomics is not race, sex, gender, sexual preference, religion or politics, but physical attractiveness.

Imagine a superhero or - heroine who is brave, nice, interesting, had a good powerset, a good rogues' gallery, a good origin story, an interesting supporting cast, a good outfit - but they themselves were not handsome / pretty / beautiful.

Even the fat chick from 'Glory' is pretty, although she's overweight.

And I don't mean hideously deformed like Deadpool, although it's a way to deal with it.

Look at Ms.Marvel. She started out normal, but she gradually - and not even THAT gradually - became really cute.
