Why did Pacifica get such a raw deal in the finale?

Why do people still complain about how Pacifica was handled when she got the best development from the side-characters overall, and even better overall development than some of the main characters

After that, every episode was written with the intention of ending the show after season 2 rather than 3. Anything that wasn't already in place got jettisoned, and any characters who were mid-development got reverted so as not to overcomplicate things.

Pacifica and her family were originally just meant to be shallow Drumpf parodies. A wealth business man with a plastic trophy wife and a snobby blonde entrepreneur daughter. Blumpf wasn't actually a threat to Hilldawg's ordained Presidency back then, he was just trolling liberals minutely with the Obama birther thing. When Alex heard fans wanted to see more of Pacifica, he was surprised, but obliged by giving her a likable side and shifting most of the blame for her spoiled behavior to her parents.

By season 2B however, Krunkf was gaining traction in his Presidency bid, and Alex was in full panic mode. John Oliver, Colbert, Liebowitz and the other """Comedian""" friends Alex had were tonguing his anus at that point to make an example out of Glorpf, so Alex put Pacifica and her family on the sacrificial alter and had them suffer a worse ending than homicidal Gideon, Pacifica had to take one for the team in the end.

Change the ending of Escape from Reality.

Dipper's escapist fantasy was going on awesome adventures instead of dealing with real life. Mabel's was a world where she never had to let go of her brother, her pet, and her summer friends. Dipper rejected his fantasy unambiguously, but Mabel's biggest hangup--separating from her twin--went mostly unresolved. She offered to let Dipper stay in Gravity Falls, but only after he changed his mind.

I don't think Mabel was too selfish for most of the series, but she'd have grown as a character by accepting she couldn't be her sibling's number one priority forever. That's an important part of growing up, especially for teenagers.

So, rather than the trial ending with Dipper promising to come home with her, Mabel chooses to intervene on Dipper's behalf. Maybe she realizes he risked his life and rejected fake Wendy for her, or she just has some flashbacks of her own in response to Dipper's speech. Either way, she makes her own sacrifice (by choosing to break out of the bubble herself and telling him it's okay to stay with Ford) before Dipper tells her he's changed his mind.

Either she was pulling some weird emotional manipulation, or she was truly so stupid that she seriously thought there was a chance Dipper would say "Sure thing! See you next summer!"

Because Pacifica in Weirdmageddon acted like Mystery of Northwest Mansion never happened. They wrote her more akin to how she was in the mini golf episode. We wanted her to have some more interactions with people like talking to Dipper, or even patching things up with Mable. Instead she just bitches the whole time about a sweater that Mable made her, says her parents didn't deserve being turned into stone, and almost refused to touch a hillbilly until her father Told Her To Do It. Mabel isn't a cunt, Pacifica has believable development and her interactions with Dipper are really well written.
