I think this franchise would've been more successful if they did the "big damn epic movie" after the lighter TV show. Not vice versa. I think that would've felt like a better payoff. If the movie came after the show, they wouldn't have to change that much, except trash the Bill Murray unfunny shitty scenes.

It's like the Rugrats Movie being made after most of the Rugrats episodes: having an epic movie after a light TV series feels more hype and awesome than vice versa.

Something many people have pointed out is how the show shamelessly reused footage from the movie. The original scene in the movie:

It confused me why they constantly kept reusing scenes from the movie in the TV show. Most other Kids' WB shows, even at this time, had "full" animation (i.e. Xiaolin Showdown, Static Shock); why not this one? Like, were the creators trying to be avant garde or something?
