Hey /co/. Been drawing a webcomic for a few months.
Getting decent following on Tumblr so I thought I'd better come here just to keep things even. Tell me if I suck
>>92455996
Vut Chicken don't have penis, how can you blowjob them?
>>92455996
>>92456003
The drawings are "even I could do better and I can't draw" tier but you've made me audibly laugh twice, my one recommendation would be horizontal panels to be more like a traditional comic strip.
>>92455996
>Three Panel Horror Stories
>there are four panels
>>92455996
>Why did the chicken cross the road?
>To get to the other side. It's a suicide joke
>>92456024
>>92456024
chur for the advice. I agree with you, I've just been posting on Tapas and Tumblr, both of which have vertical leaning formats
>>92455996
I liked the first one.
>>92456036
pal you ain't seen nothin' yet
>>92456041
Pffft. How the fuck did a panel of a bunch of shapes work as a beat and a punchline??
>>92456065
New Zealand is a very different place
Damn OP you're pretty good at this.
>>92456109
Thanks pal!
That's the first time spiderman has made me feel like less of a faggot
>>92455996
this is an absolutely garbage strip
it could be improved immensely by removing the dialog and the third panel
>>92456041
Fuck you, I laughed.
>>92456129
but buddy, if I removed the dialogue then nobody would be able to interpret my childish scribbling
>>92456129
I disagree.
>>92456137
>>92456137
there's no need to fuck me, but i'm glad i amused you
>>92456099
>>92456041
I enjoy these "awkward final panel" ones.
I can't describe what it is, but there's something inside that awkward silence that's funny to me.
>>92456160
>>92456160
whoops i'm supposed to be posting comics
>>92456152
yay, I'm being defended on the internet
They're all stupid, cheap, empty, worthless gags with no life or character. Perhaps you can find success and money with them, but know that they are awful and pointless.
Good job OP
Gave me a hearty internal chuckle
>>92456166
it's a dead horse I'll flog any day of the week

That's their fucking problem. If you want to really commit to being an unfunny hack then you've got to totally damn your audience.
>>92456152
Allow me to fucking demonstrate.
>>92456184
>>92456186
I feel like these two posts cover the whole spectrum of opinion.
>>92456184
thanks for the feedback, though, I'll be the first to admit it's not exactly nuanced, character driven comedy
>>92456219
There is solace in the purity of the non-sequitur
>>92456219
hey, thanks for the edit. I'm sorry you feel I am an unfunny hack. So your general advice would be to lighten the dialogue, and tell more of the jokes visually with better drawing?
>>92456277
As a creative I feel that there is power in the absurd, and the most powerful tool in the absurdist arsenal is the nonsequitur. Lack of dialog can help to further distance your work from the mundanities of life that can ground your work.
>>92456324
For example, here I would cut all dialog and the first panel. For a third panel, draw a closeup of Sid's face.
>>92456041
This is kinda funny, but the fact that the line is asking if he can cut in "behind" a circle instead of in "front" of the circle behind it triggers me.

hey, that's not bad, it's got a bit of a Joan Cornella feel to it
>>92456409
I'm not sure what you're saying here.
>>92456437
Thanks for humoring me.
>>92456409
what is the purpose of these links to wellknown webcomics
>>92456464
thanks for taking the time to give me helpful advice! you're all right
>>92456468
I've always liked this one no matter how stupid it is.
thread jams you say? well here they are

>>92456502
fuck I've seen that movie
I'm a subconscious thief
>>92456511
You can't have the actual heads say that they tell truth or lies, because they'd need to be truthful/lie about that too. It needs to be engraved behind them. The rest of the strips works perfectly as is.
this was the debut all the way back in January 2017. Heady days, so much potential ahead of me
>>92456544
the worst part about your advice is that its true
>>92456511
So is that actually their brother since the guy on the left tells only lies considering the guy on the right told the truth about him telling only time? If so, was the guy on the left being a sarcastic ass when he told him "good job"?
>>92456112
Some of these are nedroid-tier.
Jesus man keep doing what you're doing.
>>92456041
10/10
>>92456063
I'd say that this kind of joke requires much fancier art to really be funny.
Remember that the best dialogue is concise, while cutting and trimming are good ideas. See what happens if you just don't include words in a panel? Does it still work?
Are the words necessary?
Keep trying, some of these are good.
>>92456592
probably lying about his name and the good job
>>92456324
Change the joke to sister instead of brother for what should be obvious reasons, it doesn't matter that minotaurs are fictional.
>>92456598
Too kind, too kind
>>92456610
you're probably right about the art needing to be fancier to pull that job off. Less words seems to be the consensus! Thanks for the encouragement also
>>92456740
I've seen enough fetish porn not to assume the gender of anyone with an udder.
But good point
>>92455996
>>92456003
>>92456013
I like these since they seem like jokes you've heard a hundred times before but at the same time they aren't.
It's like when you see some new product on tv that seems so simple you go "Why didn't I think of that" but ya didn't they did.
So keep it up
>>92456807
my gut feeling is that this is unrelated to the content of the thread but I'm interested to see the reasoning behind it
>>92456824
you're so nice I'm tempted to break my embargo on using anime words, sempai
They are funny, you a re doing a good job. But even though there is a different setting every time, it kind of seems like a repeating joke. I guess it's stuck on the "reversal of expectations" style of humor. And the situations are really common tropes/stories. Kind of like PBF comics are.
>>92456868
So more exciting and varied set-ups and art would be the way to go, you reckon?
Here's a slightly more long form one
1/2
>>92456926
Probably should have taken the time to put more jokes in it though
2/2
>>92457000
I shall drink long from the teat of your praise
>>92457036
I felt bad about doing a Schrodinger joke, I didn't feel I earned the reblogs
>>92457065
Yeah it's bad and you should feel bad
>>92457147
It is. I'm bad and should be spanked
>>92457223
L-lewd
>>92457295
to quote myself from earlier in the chat, you ain't seen nothin' yet
>>92455996
These are pretty clever. It's not often I see a comic with humor this consistently good.
>>92457390
I'll accept that compliment, but I feel obliged to mention these are cherrypicked out of three months of daily comics
Anyhoo, I'm off to bed in my stupid hemisphere.
Thanks for all nice and not-so-nice-but-generally constructive input.
If anyone liked any of these I'm on Tumblr at https://threepanelhorrorstories.tumblr.com/
and Tapas at https://tapas.io/daytripper5
You've been swell
Pretty good thread OP
>>92457560
Tu meke cuz. Have a good one.
I like you, Irritated William
>>92457423
this one is really good
>>92456468
>>92456464
