Sean Scott is just the director, he didn't create this.
And as a pretty big fan of JTS, this doesn't have quite the same charm. I thought I could grow to like it despite the idiot best friend, like in JTS, because the first half of Episode 1 seemed to have a lot of clever moments. But the 2nd half with the sentient waffle just made drop it.

Okay, official credits have him as the Director and Co-developer.
The original creators are here. Bible creators and Main Developers are on a separate billing, none of which were Sean Scott.

But I do believe he had a large amount of influence on this. I was surprised myself that he wasn't the creator because the animation style/pacing reminded me a lot of JTS.

Alright, after watching the 2nd episode, I think I judged this too prematurely. The gags are actually funny, and they seem to take advantage of the premise, playing up the toonyness.
The charm is there. Maybe the waffle episode was hopefully just a bad outlier.
