The original trailer looks less shitty--they get some good expressions in, and they don't have those dead, lifeless eyes, but it's still not great for its time.

Would it have just faded into obscurity?

TEARS IN OUR EYES
>>

no, because the terrible graphics were only half of what foodfight! memorably awful, the shitshow of a story was the other aspect and 'we lost the files' doesn't explain away that part
>>
>>92418450
There are plenty of animated movies with godawful stories that nobody talks about. Delgo is one that /co/ used to talk about before Foodfight booted it off that throne because of its perfect storm of shitty story, shitty animation and insane production backstory. If it was semi-competent, by which I mean at least Jimmy Neutron level "competent" like the trailer seems to be, and it was released when it was supposed to be released in 2003, nobody would remember it outside of the occasional shitty movie general thread.
>>
>>92417000
I remember annotating this movie

I remember when this was considered the worst movie ever, and now Emoji Movie is basically making Foodfight look better
>>
>>92419468
>Implying Emoji Movie won't be an audience hit and make tons of money
>>
>>92419468
>and now Emoji Movie is basically making Foodfight look better

Let's be honest here, nothing will ever top how bad Foodfight was. The Emoji Movie will be a shitfest, but it'll be a shitfest that everyone will have forgotten about within 2 months of its release. People were saying the same shit about Sausage Party and who the fuck talks about that anymore?
>>
>>92419468
Sausage Party is basically Foodfight with better animation and worse writing, the latter I wouldn't have thought possible.
>>
>>92419468
Emoji Movie may be an insult to creativity and a blatant cash-in on the smartphone fad, but there's virtually zero chance of it being worse in any way than Foodfight
>>
>>92419876
Sausage Party wasn't that bad, although I actually read the leaked script and that absolutely affected my judgment. Trust me, it could have been worse. They had someone comb over the script and make it at least semi-coherent, as best as they could given the pile of dogshit that a bunch of brain damaged stoners gave them to work with. For example, the part where they encountered Douche in a mexican bar (building up his character and pushing the plot forward), was originally a detour where they dicked around with a new villain who lasted only that scene and did absolutely nothing except waste 10 minutes of screentime to accomplish fuckall.
>>
Anyone got that webm comparing the pre-theft animation from the trailer to the final animation?
>>
>>92419426
You're also forgetting that it's a movie about fucking brand mascots and got a surprising amount of well known actors to do the voices.
>>
Oh look what clever children.

>“In terms of coming to have an independent digital animation studio making a digitally animated movie right now, I think we’re pretty much it,” Kasanoff told Animation Magazine back in 2002. “We’ve got the movie, we’ve got the property, the place, the equipment, the talent, we’re there. Do we believe our next movie, Foodfight! is going to be a huge hit? Of course we do!”

>The NY Times describes how businessman/producer Larry Kasanoff raised $45 million to make Foodfight!, and then decided to direct the film himself, despite having no prior experience directing animation. Kasanoff declined to comment to the Times, citing legal reasons, but by other accounts, the production was a torturous experience for its crew: "[Kasanoff’s] approach, because he had gotten the money for it, and no one could say no to him, was very idiosyncratic,” said Kenneth Wiatrak, a layout artist on the project. “You didn’t know from day to day what would occur. Would there be a review? Would he suddenly want to change the whole thing?”

>People who worked on the film said that Kasanoff’s notes were often along the lines of requesting a scene to be “more awesome” or “30 percent better.” When Kasanoff failed to deliver the film after years of delays, a completion bond company stepped in to salvage whatever pieces they could.

>“This is the most complex digitally animated film ever undertaken, with thousands of different characters and hundreds of sets,” Kasanoff wrote. “We’ve searched the world for the best talent and have found extraordinary 3D animation talent in a number of different countries.”

Scraped together from a few different articles, the basic gist is that Kasanoff was definitely the problem.

He's working on a TETRIS movie now.

I can't believe I've sat through that shitty movie multiple times.
I could've watched like three movies that were actually good.
I haven't seen the fucking Godfather but I've rewatched Foodfight.

>“We’ve searched the world for the best talent and have found extraordinary 3D animation talent in a number of different countries.”

honestly this is kind of sad, it's probably true that they found some very hardworking and talented animators who completed wasted their time on this shitshow with nothing to put in their portfolio for it
>>
>>92420238
Don't forget about how Douche, instead of being a food vampire, became king of the rats and tortured the arab one by fingering a rat's asshole then smearing it on his face.

A part of me died when I read that.

It doesn't look anything special but it still probably have been way better then the one we got which isn't really saying much but it looked like it could have at least been just some dumb fun
I mean like the biggest difference for me is that the character animations which aren't exactly the best but at least actually has some energy and life to them

What's his stand?
>>
>>92417552
I think what I like best about him is that, on the one hand his movements and way of speaking are intended to be weird, since he's basically a human-sized mech suit, however, the rest of the movie is so shitty that you honestly can't tell that it's intentional.
