By putting "@DanSlott" into his tweet, the guy is essentially creating a new thread to talk about Dan Slott for anyone who happens to search dan slott's handle. Then they can bicker or circlejerk or whatever. Twitter tells you when someone starts a thread specifically involving you because you'll often want to see it but sometimes you won't. If you don't have thick enough skin to take "I'm tired of Dan Slott writing this character" then you should turn the alerts off and stop showing up for the threads.

I like how Batman has the best writers and artists inserting him into as many comics as possible and raking in the money. And Spider-man, Marvel's most popular character, is stuck with Slott and no title other than ASM can sell decently. And ASM has been dipping a lot through the years.

It's like a right way and a wrong way to promoting your best character.

Slott used to be good. His She-Hulk and Mighty Avengers were great and his Spider-Man/Human Torch mini was amazing. But now he's lost it. He's like Bendis. All that talent is gone because he's comfortable and can't be bothered to craft a good story. He knows that nobody is going to boot him from his job because he's been there for so long. It doesn't matter how much he's failed.

And his insecurity is so obvious. That's why he hunts down people that mention him, even if they don't @ him. He was the same on the CBR forums. He can't take criticism and he'll keep regressing.

This is why Marvel comics are failing.
